gvopedz Posted August 5, 2016 Report Posted August 5, 2016 Has anyone already heard the songs that Wayne Shorter has recorded with Norah Jones? (I already know that Norah Jones has been blasted on this forum.) Quote
JSngry Posted August 5, 2016 Report Posted August 5, 2016 This is a real thing? Details, please! Quote

gvopedz Posted August 5, 2016 Author Report Posted August 5, 2016 Some details from http://www.norahjones.com/: “Coming October 7th, Day Breaks is Norah's sixth solo album and a kindred spirit to her breakout debut Come Away With Me. It finds her returning to the piano and her roots. The album features Blue Note luminaries including saxophonist Wayne Shorter, organist Dr. Lonnie Smith, and drummer Brian Blade on a 12-song set that presents 9 new originals alongside covers of songs by Horace Silver, Duke Ellington and Neil Young” Quote
felser Posted August 5, 2016 Report Posted August 5, 2016 Regardless of what you think of Norah Jones musically (I have no strong feelings positive or negative), we can all be thankful she put so much money in the Blue Note coffers, which may have let them continue the reissues of classic albums longer than they would have otherwise. JSngry Posted August 5, 2016 Report Posted August 5, 2016 Hey, Wayne and Joni were splendid together, and if Norah is not now or probably never will be Total Joni Force, she's still an excellent singer who's probably never going to bump into the pigeonhole ceiling. Not looking forward to the covers, probably, but an opportunity to have Wayne play on your original material would, hopefully, cause one to dig deep and bring accordingly. Quote
mjzee Posted August 6, 2016 Report Posted August 6, 2016 Maybe Dr. Lonnie will bring some grease. Quote
