Francis Lai, who wrote the theme to A Man and a Woman has passed away.  He also wrote the highly successful theme to Love Story.

Now that's a theme everybody knows! A few years ago I even heard it played on a harpsichord, when Naoki Kitaya played it as an encore to his great recital on a copy of the "Colmar Ruckers".
