Dom Salvador: Underappreciated Musician

This is a profile that appeared in Sunday's New York Times of Dom Salvador, a Brazilian pianist, who for the last 41 years has played jazz standards at a club under the Brooklyn Bridge, but also helped to create and perform samba jazz and became a player in the samba soul movement.

He did some nice work on Lloyd McNeil's mid-70's albums.

This is a Brazilian pianist I like a lot. I specially recommend Dom Salvador, a piano trio in the tradition of the Samba Jazz school, and Som, Sangue e Raca, a more combative black power album, from 69 and 71 respectively. I had not discovered this tilll now.
