Jim Alfredson
I have this new server which I upgraded to last year in order to support the latest version of Invision Power Board, the software this forum uses. However, I cannot do the upgrade myself (I simply don't know enough about it) and unfortunately my hosting company, which used to be super cool and help me with this stuff, was recently sold and no longer offers any assistance in these matters. Does anyone here understand this stuff? PHP, MySQL, CPanel, etc? Essentially we need to backup the site then upgrade the forum software and database per the Invision instructions. We have to do it manually as the automatic update feature doesn't work (I'm too many versions behind). Thanks!
JSngry
Are you looking for volunteer help with this? If not, I know a person or two who might be able to help to some degree. PM me if you'd prefer, as I can make no promises about it.
Jim Alfredson
A volunteer would be great because I can't afford to pay anyone unless I want to up our 2019 fundraising goal to cover it.
JSngry
Jim, check your PMs when you can, thanks.
Kevin Bresnahan
I don't know if Jim is checking here anymore, but does anyone know if this ever got done? The board started getting very slow late last week and today, it's been locking up with most clicks. I think the database might need to be re-indexed or maybe the forum software is glitching. Yep - not working right. Locking up is a good description. I have no idea what would help.

The server was being used by spammers to send 100k emails a day through an exploit in my personal website. That was bogging down the server massively. My hosting company shut that down but I need to completely rebuild my own website now, which I don't really have time for. The forum software is still in need of updating because it has a lot of security holes in it, too. I'm still looking for someone to help with this. Kevin Bresnahan
I wish I could help you with this. I'll ask my daughter if she has worked with something like this. She works on the coding behind web pages, so this might be similar.
