Scott Dolan Posted March 7, 2019 Report Posted March 7, 2019 I will stand partially corrected. Disney historian Jim Korkis did say that he once saw a video interview of Walt describing a moment in his childhood where he wanted to play with an owl he'd found, and when it went batshit he ended up accidentally stomping on it during the dual exit strategy melee. So, there was an owl, a Walt, and a death. So I guess ol' Paul was simply giving us the Hollywood dramatization of the events. Quote
JSngry Posted March 7, 2019 Report Posted March 7, 2019 How do you accidentally stomp anything, especially an owl? Waiting for the rest of the story! Quote
Scott Dolan Posted March 8, 2019 Report Posted March 8, 2019 Because both freaked out and tried to escape and the owl got stomped by Walt as he was trying to flee. Quote
JSngry Posted March 8, 2019 Report Posted March 8, 2019 "Stomp", to me, creates an image of somebody standing in one place intentionally and repeatedly footing it on down with the explicit goal of creating death. Nothing accidental about it. Disney always did seem a little, uh....repressed to me. Somebody whose gut response to a freaked out owl is stomping it to death...yeah... Quote
danasgoodstuff Posted March 8, 2019 Report Posted March 8, 2019 Paul Harvey v. If you're running, you're putting your foot down with far greater force than if you're simply walking. Hence, stomp. And yes, accidental. Why do you insist on making something out of nothing in almost every conversation you're involved in? Quote

No. stomp: to walk with a loud heavy step usually in anger - “He stomped out of the office in a fit.” (Merriam-Webster) 45 minutes ago, Scott Dolan said: Why do you insist on making something out of nothing in almost every conversation you're involved in? So you won't be the only one who does this? Quote
