It's by Canadian graphic artist Hugh Syme.  He designed Rush's covers from the mid-70s onwards.

I like how the simple, red exterior contrasts with the minutely detailed inner gatefold image -- with the three spheres providing continuity across both:

Don't know Rush albums very well, but that's definitely a good one.

Bought as new release and heard via my portable Sony CD-Player .... those were the 80`s ....

The sound quality is quite disappointing.  I'll report back on the bonus material.  The album, of course, is essential, but I'll have to decide if I'm better off with this or my 1992 single CD, based on the additional material.
