The Magnificent Goldberg Posted September 27, 2021 Report Posted September 27, 2021 Just listening to these two Earl Hines and wig albums and thought it would be interesting to see if we could find a lot. MG Quote
The Magnificent Goldberg Posted September 27, 2021 Author Report Posted September 27, 2021 In 1979, Tchico Tchicaya, a well known Congolese singer, spent some time in Nigeria, and made five albums there for the Gabonese label Namaco ( a subsidiary of Decca West Africa) which were released in France on Sonafric - and only allowed himself to be photographed once. The first four are Sonafric issues, the last is a Namaco issue (but the Sonafric version is the same) - Here's the Sonafric version And the 45 version on Namaco Namaco was obviously staffed by professional cheapskates. GA Russell Posted September 28, 2021 Report Posted September 28, 2021 (edited) I recall that there was a thread about this many years ago. There were three examples that I remember. Herb Alpert had two album covers from the same photo shoot. The cover of Cecil Taylor's Love For Sale was from a photo shoot which was also used for an album by somebody else. Ronnie Hawkins had two albums using the same photo. Also, the Dave Clark Five had two album covers from the same photo shoot. Here you go! 2008! Edited September 28, 2021 by GA Russell Quote
Teasing the Korean Posted September 28, 2021 Report Posted September 28, 2021 (edited) There are many instances in which two shots from the same photo shoot ended up on two different albums: Martin Denny Latin Village and Don Swan Latino Martin Denny Hypnotique and Ethel Azama Exotic Dreams Nelson Riddle Sea of Dreams and Les Baxter Jewels of the Sea Edited September 28, 2021 by Teasing the Korean Quote
The Magnificent Goldberg Posted September 28, 2021 Author Report Posted September 28, 2021 Not so many using the SAME image though. I thought there'd be more than a couple of examples. MG Quote
Rooster_Ties Posted September 28, 2021 Report Posted September 28, 2021 (edited) How about a couple Boris Blacher CD's I dearly love, both of them... I realize they're not identical, but they are *so* close -- and if you look closely, the cigarette is visible in the second image (in his mouth). Anyway, identical or not, this is the first example I thought of. Edited September 28, 2021 by Rooster_Ties Quote

Some CD packages used LP covers from completely unrelated albums. For example, the cover of Ralph Font's Taboo was used for an Arthur Lyman Best of CD, and Spencer Hagen's Essence of Romance was used for an exotica CD comp. Identical images. HutchFan Posted October 7, 2021 Report Posted October 7, 2021 (edited) MG -- Just like your first post of Earl Hines on those Black Lion LPs. Except this time it was Pablo being lazy. Edited October 7, 2021 by HutchFan Quote
gvopedz Posted October 7, 2021 Report Posted October 7, 2021 A few people still believe that the cover of John Lennon's Plastic Ono Band album is identical to the cover of Yoko Ono's Plastic Ono Band album. Take another look at the two covers side by side. Quote
