Chuck Nessa Posted December 6, 2021 Report Posted December 6, 2021 As a "make weight" for a CD Japan order I added EMI TOCJ-50174 - mono Today I noticed at Dusty Groove item 992458 United Artists/Universal Japan - stereo Quote
mikeweil Posted December 6, 2021 Report Posted December 6, 2021 The Palladium CD issue I had was stereo. Perhaps either label/seller used the cover they had on some hard drive. The stereo spread is okay. Or do we see the dawning of some new mono fetishism? That said, I like mono, the balance often is better than on some early stereo mixes. The album is nice, Dolphy plays with the same spirit as on the Prestige LP - but this is a totally different lineup. Diaz and Jenkns played on some o the Presige dates, but this seems to be a pickup band using the band name for a one shot record deal. Juan Amalbert probably was not amused. Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted December 6, 2021 Author Report Posted December 6, 2021 I had the original lp in mono. The cd I got is mono. Quote
mikeweil Posted December 6, 2021 Report Posted December 6, 2021 According to discogs that TOCJ CD was released in 2011 - is that correct? I can't find that stereo issue Dusty Groove lists anywhere else. Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted December 7, 2021 Author Report Posted December 7, 2021 (edited) I bought it from a new release page, along with the Bird in LA set. The disc has a different number - UCCU-8255. Edited December 7, 2021 by Chuck Nessa Quote
Teasing the Korean Posted December 7, 2021 Report Posted December 7, 2021 I have the CD with both the Eric Dolphy albums combined. I think everything is stereo on there. Quote
