I think Basile was in that recent recreation of the Slide Hampton Octet organised by the original drummer’s son. Pretty impressed with that and his playing as part of it.

No idea. People come to NT from all different places. It was a fluke that we were on the same gig, this band only sometimes hired a bari player, but there was about a six week I typed month, but meant week, sorry) period where they had the budget for it, they gave Frank the call and he took it. He was doing the NT thing at the time, which is kind of a "two different worlds" thing between the school and the working stiff type gigs. But hey, it was a treat, it really was.
