Jazztropic Posted March 26, 2004 Report Posted March 26, 2004 Anyone heard about a new Louis Smith on Steeple Chase?I thought I saw it on Barnes and Noble web site but it is gone now.Any help appreciated. Thanks Quote
Dan Gould Posted March 27, 2004 Report Posted March 27, 2004 Its Steeplechase 31552 I particularly like Michael Cochrane on piano, so this is definitely on my list. If you can't find it at your retail options, you can go direct to the distributor, Peter Crawford of Stateside Distributors, stateside@prodigy.net / 888-776-0436 I believe if you purchase three CDs, shipping is free, though his prices aren't low, I think $17 for Steeplechase. But there's lots of great stuff on that label, he also carries Timeless and Stunt. Quote

Louis Smith Quintet - Louisville (SteepleChase) Mar 9 — previously unreleased June 24, 1965 live recording from Copenhagen's Montmartre Jazzhus — with Kenny Drew, Neils-Henning Orsted Pedersen and and Alex Riel Anybody heard it yet?? 1965??? Is that a typo?? '65??? If not... HELLYEAH!!! (probably) Edited March 27, 2004 by Rooster_Ties Quote
robviti Posted March 27, 2004 Report Posted March 27, 2004 (edited) I'm afraid our friend Alan made a wee cut-and-paste error. This information is the same as that provided for Dexter Gordon's Loose Walk, which was also released by Steeplechase on March 9: Dexter Gordon - Loose Walk (SteepleChase) Mar 9 — previously unreleased June 24, 1965 live recording from Copenhagen's Montmartre Jazzhus — with Kenny Drew, Neils-Henning Orsted Pedersen and and Alex Riel Louis Smith Quintet - Louisville (SteepleChase) Mar 9 — previously unreleased June 24, 1965 live recording from Copenhagen's Montmartre Jazzhus — with Kenny Drew, Neils-Henning Orsted Pedersen and and Alex Riel Edited March 27, 2004 by jazzshrink Quote
