Claude Posted March 29, 2004 Report Posted March 29, 2004 (edited) Impressive pictures from Tchernobyl, 18 years after the nuclear disaster: http://www.angelfire.com/extreme4/kiddofspeed/ Reminds me of Tarkovsky's movie "Stalker" Edited March 29, 2004 by Claude Quote
wesbed Posted March 29, 2004 Report Posted March 29, 2004 I heard about these pictures but didn't know where to find the link. Thanks, Claude. Quote
Rooster_Ties Posted March 29, 2004 Report Posted March 29, 2004 (edited) There were a total of 4 reactors at Chernobyl, but what shocked the heck out of me is the fact that they continued to operate the other three reactors, for many years after the first one was destroyed in the disaster. (All of them were of the same, nearly identical design too.) Absolutely unf*cking believable, but they actually ran the other reactors in the same complex, for another decade or more (hell, they may still be running now!! - for all I know). These other reactors weren't just in another part of town -- but were all connected together, in very close proximity to each other -- all part of the same complex. I'll see if I can find some more information about this, and post it later to this thread. Amazing. Edited March 29, 2004 by Rooster_Ties Quote
Jim Dye Posted March 29, 2004 Report Posted March 29, 2004 Saw this link on Slashdot. It's an amazing photo essay. It's probably not a good idea to post too many images from her site here. It'll waste her bandwidth. I read that the increase in traffic to her site has been huge. It has to get pretty expensive when the slashdot community starts flooding your site! Quote
Dmitry Posted March 29, 2004 Report Posted March 29, 2004 If this is the same person who complained to B3-er about one of his/her photos being used as my avatar, you might want to get rid of the pictures you pasted. Stat. Quote
