This is good news, but do you really consider this to be one of Land's best recordings? I have it and think it's not as good as his other work during this period.

Forgive my ignorance, but is this another one of those late 70s, Japanese-only, never previously issued dates? Or was this a west coast date that Alfred leased?

Or for that matter, was it an LT "rainbow series" LP in the states?

This part 2 includes unreleased materials which were already issued in the LT series. However, instead of reusing jacket designs seen on LT series, King records fitted newly-designed cover artworks.

Liner notes say:

'Original session produced by Leonard Feather for Blue Note Records. Produced for release by Michael Cuscuna. Recorded on July 25, 1960 at Radio Recorders, Los Angeles. Engineer: Rudy Van Gelder.'.

The liner notes were written by Leonard Feather. That RVG recording mention looks odd. Strange that he was flown to LA to record the session.
