#10: the saxist is young for jazz (34 at the time of recording); I think he's a good, strong player who can grow with time

I'm interested in finding out who this is. The way you wrote this, it seems like this was a recent release.

Pretty recent, yes.  He has a Wikipedia page, which tells us that in high school he studied with Dave Liebman.

Tried to sleuth a bit on that clue, but Liebman has been an educator for a long time. He's got to have a lot of former students.

googling "site:wikipedia.org Dave Liebman High School" led me to Noah Preminger who fits your clues very well.  But I haven't found a recording around 2020 where he goes pianoless.

You are correct that it's Noah Preminger!  The track is from the album "Sky Continuous," recorded 11/9/21, released 2022.

And the track is track #2 on the album "High or Booze;" correct again.

Jeremy Pelt and Brian Lynch are players that made me feel like they "get" Woody Shaw, Lee Morgan and Freddie Hubbard.  Throwing them out as possible participators in #1, since we know it's this decade..

Nope, sorry, try again.  I will say this: the trumpeter on #1 also plays on #12 of this BFT.

Correct!

If you're curious about Preminger, you might want to check out Michael Feinberg's "Blues Variant" (also on Criss Cross).  Preminger plays on it, and the band does a version of "High or Booze."  https://www.crisscrossjazz.com/album/1413.html
