  1. Past hour
  2. Shostakovich's Tenth Symphony, as performed by Ormandy & the Philadelphia O:
  3. That all began with Alan Bates.
  4. Gustav Mahler - Das Lied Von Der Erde (Carl Schuricht, 1939)
  5. Randall Goosby. What an incredible performer. Flawless, impeccable.
  6. So was Marion Brown, John McLaughlin, Stanley Cowell, signed to Polydor? When did Freedom and Black Lion come in the picture? Did they split the catalogue or is Freedom really a Black Lion imprint, or the other way around?
  7. RIP Certainly one of the most magnanimous people to grace our presence here.
  8. I like the mid-60's BN Blue Mitchell period very much. Fun stuff. lols. 1870s was far funnier. Can't forget something I've never seen. What a lineup!
  9. Today
  10. 1879s, lols, that's some funny stuff! Good stuff. I bought Breakthrough right out of Dusty Groove, the last time (not this time) I was in Chicago a few years back. Glad I did, I believe it's a Dusty Grooove edition (it's packed in a box).
  11. I feel proud and happy that I was a part of Victor and Chris Albertson re-connecting after decades . . . they were friends from their youth and had long been out of touch. Victor was a very nice man, a true jazz fan, and a generous spirit. I wish his family all the best.
  12. Very sad to hear this. RIP.
  13. Ahronovitch is an excellent conductor -- especially in Russian music. His set of Rachmaninov's Piano Concertos (with Tamas Vasary) is one of my favorites.
  14. My first recollections of the Polydor label was when I bought German imports of LPs by rock artists like The Who & Jimi Hendrix & those were actually on Track first, so Polydor wasn't the actual label. The first artist I remember buying of an artist signed by Polydor was Pat Travers.
  15. Ts-find Surpisingly good performance !
  16. Beethoven - String Quartet Op.59/2 - Vegh Quartet
  17. This was posted on Victor's Facebook page: Dear all, I am saddened to inform you that my dear father, Victor, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2025, at the age of 89. Victor’s memorial service will take place on June 7, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Sundby Cemetery Chapel. Afterwards, a memorial gathering will be held at Café Ælsk, Amagerbrogade 37, 2300 Copenhagen S. Everyone who knew and cared for Victor is welcome. Victor & I chatted via PMs and E-mails over the years. We exchanged CDs a few times. Like me, he was a huge Mobley fan. I haven't heard from him in a long while but I checked his Facebook page from time to time. His son posted a picture on Victor's 89th birthday in May.
  18. I learned from Victor Christensen's son that he has passed at the age of 89. RIP Victor, a friend via email and facebook and jazz forums.
