  1. Indeed! Actually went back to this Gerontius the other night after watching a nice new BBC documentary about Baker...
  2. Absolutely! This recording is new to me, but as you say...incredible clarity.
  3. Tunes, but pretty open!
  4. For me, some of the greatest piano playing committed to record. (Apologies for hyperbole, but...)
  5. Don’t know this one, but listened to Neumann/Czech Philharmonic doing Mahler 2 only yesterday...also wonderful!
  6. Was revisiting the Stephen Kovacevich recordings recently...also wonderful IMHO!
  7. Very much so...desert island stuff in practically everything he plays, for my tastes at least!
  8. I think Pollini is a genius (even with all the provisos for this being an overused word) in Beethoven concerti (and the sonatas and Diabellis, FWIW). I also find this recording, of him playing some when very young, fascinating: And this document is also very special:
  9. I'm not sure if this is available to listen to outside the UK (certainly the download seems to be UK only, but streaming may be fine?), but I always enjoy listening to this BBC programme, and that's the link to a comparative listening they did of Brandenburg recordings.
