  1. Had the pleasure of seeing him earlier this year at a Robert Johnson tribute performing with Hubert Sumlin. They were both hooked up to oxygen tanks, but still were jamming.
  2. Now $53.31! Now it's all the way back down to $14.11. The price of this has been dropping like a rock day by day these past several weeks. It won't get much lower... I think. Thanks for the Nat King Cole repost. I missed it the first time. Sweet! No problem, the day after I posted about this, it was at $54. I think some other people who saw this post probably bought copies too. Just received a notice from Amazon that this shipped. Moral: When you see a great deal like this, grab it. Delivered today; it's now $71.98 on Amazon. I don't know if this has always been true, but there have been some big price fluctuations on Amazon, not just at usual sale times (like Christmas) but day to day and week to week. It's surprising--at east to me. Another example: my wife wanted a KitchenAid mixer and sent me a link (a gentle hint ). While I mulled over this state of affairs I checked back on Amazon a few days later; price had dropped more than $20. It seems to pay to check the pricing over a few days time. Amazon seems to be pursuing the pricing game that airlines now use, where seat prices will fluctuate up or down depending on a host of factors on an almost continuous basis. I'm sure they are using some sort of algorithm to set pricing. No more "set it and forget it." That's some crazy algorithm they're using there.

  4. They used to....its now 199. Wow...if they made an error, they honored it this time, unlike they did with the Sly box of a few years ago. Oh you mean when they had the Sly box for $10? They actually honored it, at least the store I went to here in SF did. I just showed them a copy of the printout and, after some haggling, they refunded the $65 back to me.
  5. Stopped by Westfield yesterday. It's gone too. So much for that.
  6. Thanks BW! I guess I didn't miss much, if anything, then. This is in contrast to other parts of the country where, according to other message boards, folks were making out like bandits. I thought Union Square SF was going until the end of April. Guess not. Probably shipped remaining stock out to Stonestown & others. Will hit up Westfield today.
  7. Did anybody got to the SF Union Square store right before it closed? I drove by there today and it was shuttered for good already. I remember the last few days at the Borders near AT&T Park, the pickings were pretty forgettable and they were pretty adamant that the junk they still had would only go to 70% with no further reductions. Will try to hit up the Westfield one tomorrow before it closes too. Yes, I think they are shipping any borderline decent stuff to the ones still remaining in the Bay Area.
  8. A great musician who endured a tragic life has passed. http://www.souldetective.com/ http://www.facebook.com/pages/Sir-Lattimore-Brown-Fan-Club/339094442133 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PENSACOLA - A pedestrian hit by a car and killed in Pensacola will live on through his music and his many fans. The accident happened on Olive Road, Friday night. As Channel Three's Dan Thomas explains, it was a sudden end to a colorful life. The name is Lattimore Brown, better known as Sir Lattimore. He was one of the Memphis bluesmen who's style and sound gave birth to rock and roll. In recent years he found himself broke, often in poor health and living in Pensacola, where his career was just starting to revive. 9. Yep.. according to those same threads, however, people have been getting copies this time around. Apparently, it's the real Columbia/SME manufactured Plugged Nickel box, not CD-Rs. In the Miles "trumpet case" mega collection, there is a blank space left for one more set. Hmm. Could this be the first sign of SME reissuing the PN sessions one final time before the CD reissue boom era (already being administered last rites) becomes extinct?
  10. Yea, it went up to 12GBP by the time I ordered. These things always happen to me.
  11. After hearing the stories, I'll just bide my time. It sounds like the seller is legit. It may take as long as 60 or so days. As I posted in the thread about problems with UK deliveries, I recently received a UK order almost two months after it was shipped (or "dispatched," as they say) in early December. In the interim, the same seller had shipped and I had recevied a replacement order, all within the span of 2-3 weeks. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to the length of these delays. I ordered my Peterson Mosaic on January 27 and got it here in San Francisco on February 7 along with the Carter/Bradford Select mentioned on this site from AMZ Marketplace. So yes, the seller is legit. The set was minty fresh and sealed and comes in a box with a blue Royal Mail sticker. I had to pay the increased shipping cost and am not a huge fan of OP, but at that price, it's still a deal.
  12. Excellent price right there! Now $37.41 or save the $.41 when you order from Amazon Marketplace!
  13. Does anyone know if these coupons can be used more than once during the applicable period or are they tracked according to your Borders Rewards card #? I know what the fine print says, but has anyone tried reusing them anyways recently?
  14. 50% off coupon good through Thursday: Link ... and a free tea or coffee while you're there if they have a cafe in-store through Christmas... Link
  15. Earlier this year, I was ticketed $70 for parking overtime in a 2-hr. zone here in San Francisco. The problem? I was not parked there & still at home at the time marked on the citation as first checked to start the 2 hr. period according to the meter maid. Wrote a letter appealing the ticket which was denied and then went to pay the fine in advance before seeing a hearing official as part of the appeals process. The official asked me if I had any proof that I was not parked there at the time and I brought along my uncle who was home with me that morning to testify that, indeed, my car was still parked in my garage at the time stated. He then stated that he would have to review how the ticket was issued and get back to me on that. I then received a letter stating that after looking at my appeal letter, the ticket was upheld as I had no documented proof (?!?!) that I was not parked there at the time. Arrrrgh! What happened to the review promised me? Apparently, my family is full of liars too. I have one final shot to appeal before a judge, but I would have to pay another $25 if I lose. Several people have told me to just forget about it as they've heard that the City is issuing fake tickets to meet quotas due to a budget shortfall, but I am steamed as I am on a tight budget and, in principle, it just seems so wrong. What would you guys do? Guess it's hard to fight City Hall.
  16. Went to the Giants victory parade and ceremony yesterday here in SF. It was a crush of humanity. The local news sources estimated 1.5 million people participated.
  17. I'll take these too. PM sent. Paul Desmond Quartet -- Live (verve) $4 Red Garland -- All Kinds of Weather (Prestige / ojc) $4 Earl Bostic -- The EP Collection, Vol. 1 ... (See for Miles) $6 ... 19. Mat Latos of the Padres was only a hit away from a perfect game a few days after Braden. CC, Hughes, Dice-K & Romero have come very close too. There's something in the water.
  20. Actually, Tim Kurkjian and Dave Winfield made the same observation on ESPN about elastic strikes from Halladay too.
  21. It's getting too easy, Braden's perfecto, Ubaldo's no-no and a ton of one-hitters thus far this season.
  22. Facebook fucking scares me. Can someone explains to me how it's been able to steal my contacts verbatim off two different e-mail accounts and send me recommendations of people I'd like to add based on them. I have never searched for these people on Facebook itself. One of these folks was a woman who I had an unpleasant experience with and had erased her contact too. Don't know how they got that. Perhaps they are giving these recommendations based on scanning other folks' e-mail accounts?
