  1. Getting reacquainted, meeting new folks, telling a few jokes about experiences there along with meetings, concerts, and misc. events I thought was the purpose for this thread, unless I'm missing something. Weren't we asked.......told......WARNED.....not to rehash old feuds from other places?
  2. What the hell could possibly matter what others say or think about me in the grand scheme of things? I learned an expression years ago that serves well: 'what others think or say about me is none of my business!'
  3. Whose clock are you starting? Isn't that a break in board etiquette? Self clock starting I think would be OK, but that other stuff no way...
  4. Amazingly though , within 2 entries he did turn THIS topic all about HIM
  5. Absolutely.....a fantastic hockey game! Too bad Pens lost...would have set up a series once again.
  6. 90.5FM KSJS San Jose and www.ksjs.org 6-10 AM Pacific Time Artist interview takes the final hour of the program with a Q&A with our guest followed by exclusive play from his/her new release. 06/09 Pianist/composer/co-founding member of the Yellowjackets Russell Ferrante visits to discuss the new album which comes to us from Mack Avenue Records. Russell played varsity basketball at our very own San Jose State University back in the day....
  7. Jean Stapleton Staple Singers Mormon Tabernacle Choir
  8. I wouldn't describe game 1 in those harsh terms patricia, but 4-1 with a period to go at home does sound a little ugly! Why would that be? He's on a cup contender in the semi-finals instead of at home or on vacation...
  9. Without a shadow of a doubt the tune "Soul Leo" from this album:
  10. Nothing from me until tomorrow when it's official but just in case I forget big greets Scott!
  11. Thanks for posting this Valerie...saw it at the other board as well. I had the saxophonist Mark Gross on the show yesterday. Mulgrew is on his first 2 recordings. I asked him to talk about him as both a musician & as a person; the answer came back and the entire time (I'm sitting in the studio behind a microphone) was breaking out in goosebumps....very moving, loving, and emotional. I seeded the earlier part of the program with the purpose of illustrating Mulgrew's brilliance as a supporting player; a sideman. His albums as a leader comprise a relatively small catalog, and I played from a number of those the week earlier when he suffered the stroke. I played Mulgrew on albums from Woody Shaw, Greg Osby, Charles McPherson, Gregory Tardy, Dizzy Gillespie All- Stars, Donald Harrison, Dave Holland Sextet , Kenny Garrett, and finally Mulgrew Miller & Wingspan [1987]
  12. No mention whether the proceeds are going to the family (certainly hope so)
  13. Why is it my head hurts when I see layer after layer after layer of quotes in the same post?
  14. Think of the extra stress of doing this silly back to back on the road team that had to travel after a 7 game series...I hope Kings win to level the playing field....seriously.
  15. It's a shame that the western finals is resorting to back-to-back games at this time of year. Naturally it's all about $$$$ so they can get both hockey night in Canada and the Sunday USA national broadcast included. Also quite surprised at the Boston/Pens result. Pens scoring at a rabid pace getting shut out quite a shocker in game 1!
  16. The cigar and pipe users ARE smokers. I mention this because over the years I've come across many who have said something like "I don't smoke....just a cigar once in a while or a pipe." Believe me, having been a 2 packs of cigs smoker, pipes and cigars were the logical way to step down from tobacco use for me. I stopped cigarette smoke in 1972 and probably went another 2 years or so smoking cigars. Never really enjoyed [tobacco] pipes even though my grandpa and dad both did for years. The health risks are lower, but many still many potential problems do come along for the ride.
  17. Jazz trivia connected to "All In The Family: Roger Kellaway played the piano for the end of the show theme. RIP Ms. Stapleton
  18. You can find out from Dennis himself, I would think.
  19. I shook hands with him the time we taped and interview and my hand just disappeared....dwarfed my Mulgrew's!
  20. Spike Lee Lee Morgan Morgan Freeman (sorry for making my entry 3 actual people)
  21. I'm in San Jose, so the Sharks series does sting, but should have been expected.....the old guard fails at the end; no surprise again. Hoped against hope that the younger guys and Niemi could carry them through the round.
