Guy Berger
I have a CD with a 30 minute track, 15 of which is only silence. Is there a way to rip only the first half, on EAC or (preferably) Itunes? Guy
Mr. Gone
Rip with EAC edit wav with www.goldwave.com
Kevin Bresnahan
Rip it to your hardrive using any tool you want (I prefer EAC) and then open the .wav file with Audcity, a freeware program from www.download.com. You can edit out the silence and re-save the modified file.

Man with the Golden Arm
easy way: ... but not the really the right way. if it is iTunes I would rip it from the source twice ... (maybe title it differently) then ... "command i" for track "info" choose "options" and play with the start and stop times in that window. if the silence is at the end your set with just one tweak ( i use this to shave down tracks when time is an issue on packing a disc or to get rid of a pop at the start of a vinyl ripped dub)) but if it is the middle somewhere then you need to do the voodoo on the two separate tracks and link them together when you burn. relyles
with EAC you can extract a "range" as opposed to tracks With that you can extract only that portion of the track you want without needing the extra step of editing the WAV afterward. Guy Berger
I just realized that the AAC format doesn't take up more memory to store silence. Guy
