Shawn
Fairly simple idea, post a famous album cover and a picture of the actual location where it was shot. Black Sabbath's iconic debut LP cover from 1970 Photo Location - Mapledurham Mill near Reading.
BillF
I know we've had this one recently, but it's worth another look, isn't it? Pink Floyd, Animals Photo: Battersea Power Station, London Great idea for a thread, by the way! Edited April 17, 2012 by BillF

Black Sabbath's iconic debut LP cover from 1970 Photo Location - Mapledurham Mill near Reading. I've owned the LP in the past. I've visited Mapledurham scores of times, even at that time I was listening to the album, as it was close to where I grew up. Until this post I had no idea. Extraordinary what you learn from the O board

A Lark Ascending
I went to uni at Reading - don't recall the mill. Good thread idea, Shawn. Uffington white horse near Oxford - one of my favourite places. Someone must have used Cerne Abbas as a record sleeve! Whoa--I have to find this place, if only to terrorize the residents with one too many "taking a historical/referential album cover" pictures. I'll be visiting SF in June. That record was my first exposure to Shepp. Still actually my favorite Shepp record, along with his half of New Thing At Newport.
