Head Man
Amongst the usual SACD re-issues for November showing up on CDJapan today, there are a number of other releases that look interesting: Richard Beirach - Meshuselah [Cardboard Sleeve (mini LP)] Dollar Brand / Don Cherry / Carlos Ward - The Third World / Underground [Cardboard Sleeve (mini LP)] Jack DeJohnette/Time & Space [Cardboard Sleeve (mini LP)] Badal Roy - Ashirbad [Cardboard Sleeve (mini LP)] Elvin Jones - Live In Japan 1978 2 in 1 [Cardboard Sleeve (mini LP)] Clint Houston/Watership Down [Cardboard Sleeve (mini LP)] Eddie Gomez/Down Stretch [Cardboard Sleeve (mini LP)] Charles Tolliver Music Inc./Live In Tokyo [Cardboard Sleeve (mini LP)] Charles Sullivan/Genesis [Cardboard Sleeve (mini LP)] Kalaparusha Maurice McIntyre - S.T. [Cardboard Sleeve (mini LP) Has anyone heard any of these and can comment on them? Edited August 27, 2014 by Head Man
Homefromtheforest
I have the Beirach, third world underground, ashiribad, watership down, kalaparusha, and genesis titles on Japanese LP. All of these are fantastic! I used to have "time & space" but sold it many years ago...was a bit so-so.
clifford_thornton
Should read Kalaparusha Maurice McIntyre. It's great. The Brand/Cherry/Ward is a wonderful record, one of the best of its ilk. I have the Sullivan "Re-Entry" LP (good) but not Genesis, which I believe is on Strata-East (unless there are two by that band).
king ubu
Will at least get the Kalaparusha and "Third World/Underground" ones! (Actually wanted to order them last night ... only then realized they will only be out in weeks.)
erwbol
Some are already at 2 to 4 weeks availability at CD Japan.
erwbol
The Charles Tolliver has only four tracks ('Round Midnight is missing) compared to this release.

erwbol
Ah. Is the Live in Japan album the best disc of that Select? Edited November 14, 2014 by erwbol
Head Man
Ah. Is the Live in Japan album the best disc of that Select? I haven't played it for some time but I don't recall that disc being any better than the others. I am a fan of Mr. Tolliver, though..... The Live at Slug's material is the strongest IMO,but it's all good. Tolliver and Cowell were otherworldlt during that period.

erwbol
Kalaparusha - S.T. (CMC, Trio Records, POCS-9302) contains a bonus track called Tanuki (according to CD Japan) not on the original LP. It is only mentioned on the back of the OBI. It's 8:55 long.
