Leeway
I wonder if the author got Henry to cooperate in the biography.
JSngry
Along the lines of Leeway's inquiry, I wonder if it's going to be another one of those "press clippings turned into book" things.Sure hope not, because there are stories to be told here, so many stories. mjazzg
I don't see the publisher blurb shouting from the rooftops that it's authorised or involves Grimes in any way. Wouldn't they be making that point if it were?found a brief seemingly enthusiastic reference to it on Grimes' website which at least might suggest he's not unhappy with it Edited October 6, 2015 by mjazzg

Gheorghe
Must get thet. Henry Grimes is one of my favourite bass players and one of the true giants.I love everything he did and does. He can play anything from straight ahead to free, and he´s so strong he could play unplugged with a big band and you would still hear him. Clunky
I saw Grimes last night with Marshall Allen. He looked pretty tired and less than steady on his feet at the end of the concert.
mjazzg
He looked like that when I last saw him three years ago with Ribot. He played strongly thoughHow was Magic Science? I hear good reports of the London gig
Clunky
He looked like that when I last saw him three years ago with Ribot. He played strongly thoughHow was Magic Science? I hear good reports of the London gigcertainly a very different experience hearing seeing Magic Science playing whilst Oedipus a silent film by pianist Ka was screened. Allen played Kora and Casio device , only picking up his alto once the film had finished. It was pretty abstract music which worked very well with the film.Oedipus . The cinematography of Japanese dance filmed in the Swiss Alps was as dramatic as it was unusual. The clip above gives you a good idea. I posted a couple of photos I took at the gig in the Live shows thread.
