GA Russell
I am planning to pick up an external CD burner for my computer. Would anyone like to recommend a specific brand and model? Thanks!
mjzee
I bought a Samsung in 2014; it's worked flawlessly and I can recommend it. The model I purchased is no longer made. This is the current model: https://www.amazon.com/Ultra-Slim-Rewriter-SE-218GN-RSBD-compatible/dp/B00MLXA1KI/

Amazon has this for $59, and says that the best selling Rioddas and Rodzan both go for half that. Is there something I'm missing?
mjzee
Go with what you’re comfortable with. Samsung’s a great brand. These Chinese knockoffs... you decide.
mikeweil
I have an LG with its own power supply that survived three of four computers. https://www.lg.com/us/burners-drives
jcam_44
I bought the exclusive and pricey Z5STBT brand in Oct 2017 and have had no issues. Unfortunately it appears they are no longer available but at $11.99 I'm not surprised. I only use it to rip music off CD's.
GA Russell
Mystery solved. Michael, the Samsung you recommended is normally $26, an entirely competitive price. But Amazon is out of Samsung burners, and only one vendor is offering what you suggested, which is why he is demanding $59. So I moved on. Mike, the LG is currently $24, and I almost chose it. Maybe I should have. jcam, your Z5STBT is only $17, the lowest price I could find. I decided to go with the Rodzon, because it was very highly rated, and because today there is a $7 coupon which brings the price down to $20. So I'll let you know if I find out I bought junk because it was on sale! Thanks everyone! https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07QTH2MVW/
