  2. Yes it is. Right now “Lester Young in Washington, D.C. Volume 1” Pablo/OJC cd 300×300 15.1 KB With the Bill Potts Trio, recorded at Olivia Davis’s Patio Lounge, Washington, D.C.; December 7, 1956. One of five volumes on cd from Pablo. Very well recorded and a whole lot of good late Pres.
  3. Yes, those sections with the mostly orange-colored horizontal bars (such as at 2:00 and 3:00) are like those I remember seeing in that other online source.
  4. Imo, this is Joe's best recorded version: But at the other end of the galaxy... Words!!! Jimmy Heath did a nice one on The Gap Sealer.
  5. Motif ML 502 / V.S.O.P. 46 (1986) - Max Albright Octet " Mood For Max" - rec. 1956 also on Sonet label Sweden

  7. Elektra Musician MUS K 52388 - Clifford Brown / Max Roach " Pure Genius" Vol. One" - rec. 1956
  8. Wasn't Mighty Quinn somehow connected to the Cucuna/EMI bloodline somehow?
  9. That is very likely the case. I remember seeing facsimile excerpts of Graettinger's scores somewhere in an online discussion (may have been here in this forum), and they did look like this (on music paper, though), though not quite as colorful IIRC. Reminded me vaguely of certain medieval music notations that I saw on the walls in the home of some of my parents' friends.
  10. Today
  11. That's supposedly Graetinger's actual notation there. As with so much KentonMusic, credit to him for facilitating it, but 100% credit to Graetinger for the music itself.
  12. From the 'Nimbus' collection on Esoteric, which contains their three Vertigo albums and more. That's a nice record (trivia note: Written by Lennon/McCartney, first recorded by their labelmate Cilla Black). Three Dog Night were good and exciting until they weren't. I like the first two studio albums and the first live one. "Easy to Be Hard" from "Hair' is a gem, and "Eli's Coming" sounded great until I heard the original by Laura Nyro.
  13. Tchaikovsky, Symphonies Nos. 1-3 / Francesca da Rimini Igor Markevitch, London Symphony Orchestra, New Philharmonia Orchestra (Philips)
  14. Such an INCREDIBLE album.

  16. I've been using the speakers in my stereo system -- Pinnacle PN8's -- since my wife & I got married in 1992. I like the sound of them very much, and I got a great deal on them all those years ago. But my LOVELY wife, knowing how much I enjoy listening to music, recently suggested that I upgrade them. She didn't have to twist my arm. So I dove into the internet, reading as much as I could online. More importantly, I spent a bunch of time listening to different speakers -- both at a friend's place and at a local shop. I heard models by Magnepan, Vandersteen, Wharfedale, KEF, Dynaudio, and Paradigm. The whole "research"/comparison process was good fun, an excellent excuse to hang out with some cool people and listen closely to music. This last weekend, I pulled the trigger and ordered a set of Paradigm Founder 100F speakers: They should arrive in a week or so. To say that I'm stoked is an understatement. I can't wait to hear them.
  17. While Shirley Scott is primarily known as leader for her organ work, I am a fan of her two piano trio albums on Candid.
  18. Understandable and I agree ... I found an original 10" copy of "This Modern World" some 40 years ago (i.e. in my rather younger days ) at a fleamarket, and a couple years ago I scored (at a giveaway price) an original of the somewhat later 12" release that combines "City of Glass" and "This Modern World". But its cover continues the "This Modern World" theme. The thumbnails on the "Nine Classic Albums V.2" CD set on Real Gone Jazz also uses a more recent cover on its photo. So unless I come across a dirt cheap copy of the 10" City of Glass with the original cover the above will (have to) do. Anything else would be overkill.
  19. I have been reading from Jazzbo the harsh winter weather he has been having. Here in Southern Arizona winter seems to have passed us by so far. We usually have had a couple of days below freezing by now, but we have had none where I live. Though chilly in the early mornings, the temperatures in the afternoon have regularly been in the mid to high 70's.
  20. Yes “Tales from Topographic Oceans” Super Deluxe Edition. cd 3 of 12, the original release with the 2025 remaster by Steven Wilson, sides 1 and 2.
  21. Dessoff - String Quartet Op.7 Gernsheim - String Quartet Op.31
  22. “Miles and Monk at Newport” Sony 2 cd set, disc 2 (Monk) Pee Wee!
