J.A.W. Posted December 28, 2005 Report Posted December 28, 2005 (edited) According to several encyclopedias he was born on September 20, 1921, so he was 84. Another loss... Edited December 28, 2005 by J.A.W. Quote
J.A.W. Posted December 28, 2005 Report Posted December 28, 2005 I hope the tracks he recorded for EmArcy in 1954 will be reissued. Quote
AllenLowe Posted December 28, 2005 Report Posted December 28, 2005 according to the Farmer's Almanac he was born April 1, 1867 - that makes him 138 - Quote

brownie Posted December 29, 2005 Report Posted December 29, 2005 I hope the tracks he recorded for EmArcy in 1954 will be reissued. Back in vinyl days (1987 to be exact) they were reissued in Japan on an EmArcy album 'Renditions' (with uncredited original cover by Burt Goldblatt). It had the eight quartet sides with John Williams, Teddy Kotick and Art Mardigan plus the four sides with Don Joseph, Milt Gold and Al Cohn added. Very nice date. Sad to hear of de Arango passing! I had that Japanese LP back in my vinyl days. Nice date indeed. Quote
