    They are probably in private hands. Not sure if Roscoe still paints but he used to have one in process all the time. FWIW, the one I used was about 3 feet wide.

    Roscoe Mitchell. The color in that version is a bit washed out. I did a new version in the '70s and the colors are more vivid. Both covers will be reproduced when I reissue the disc later this year.

    The tracks were probably omitted to keep the publishing royalties down. I know RCA/BMG had (at the time of the Ellington reissue you mention) an internal limit on the amount of music per disc. Universal probably had the same.

    Kubelik is probably a "safe" deal but I have huge problems with No. 1. Way too speedy. Horenstein is a favorite (Vox/mono first, Unicorn/stereo next). Might come back and complain about others later but the first caught my attention.
