  2. Here are some - I bought this for my father and copped it after his passing.
  3. Indian Summer, Avalon and Jumpin' with Symphony Sid from Art Ford's Jazz Party, Wild Man Blues (faded) from the Sound of Jazz (faded) and Lover Man from an unidentified pilot with Cozy Cole, Milt Hinton, Johnny Guarneri.
  4. In 2004 RCA issued. 6 sets of "greatest hits" cds coupled with a dvd of period clips, soundies, etc. I collected them all. I'd almost forgotten them and have taken them off the shelf to watch the video stuff this week. Anyone out there have favorites?
  5. Earlier today Classic 1936-1947 Count Basie and Lester Young Studio Sessions - disc 1. Tomorrow The Savory Collection 1935-1940 - discs 5 & 6 Count Basie broadcasts.

  12. I was in and out of the Chess building a lot during the Rotary Connection time. It contained offices, rehearsal space, recording studio, pressing plant and warehouse. They stopped the record presses while the studio was in operation. One of the engineers took me to see Marshall Chess's office - black leather walls!! Minnie Ripperton filled in as receptionist sometimes. The building was converted into condos a few years back.
