  1. From the Bee Hive Mosaic. I don't think there is a single session on this set without an inspired lineup.
  2. Finished: Now playing: I've taken Garrett for granted. I really enjoyed seeing him with Chick's Freedom Band years ago, yet only caught him again at last year's Detroit Jazz Festival. Maybe because he has appeared frequently at various festivals over the years, I just always assumed that I'd get to see him again. That attitude backfired on me before when I missed Mulgrew Miller. At any rate, I missed out on some shows I would've enjoyed.
  3. G This one has so much going for it.
  4. Kei Akagi - Playroom, with Rick Margitza on several tracks, John Patitucci or Bob Harrison on bass and Tom Brechtlein on drums. Akagi is a Miles alum. I like this one and Mirror Puzzle, but I haven't heard anything recent from him.
  5. Disc 3: This just may be becoming my go-to Liebman and Beirach. Between a disc of Lookout Farm, a disc of duos and a disc of Quest, it's a one-stop shop giving a nice overview of a great partnership/friendship.
  6. Disc 1: I am rediscovering this one. Oddly enough, this set made me willing to part with the Pendulum Mosaic, which I might end up buying in download form after receiving an offer I couldn't refuse for the physical copy.
  7. From the Mosaic Select. This was a natural follow-up to the Mathews album with 'Hi-Fly' and Azzedin Weston. If I listen to Kenny Barron later, that'll cover three of Monk's major successors. I've had the set for a year or so and somehow haven't listened to the whole thing yet. I've listened to the previously unreleased session with Cecil Payne, Ron Carter and Roy Haynes a ton, though.
  8. C From the Bee Hive Mosaic.
  9. Some fiery Hubbard with an A+ band. We just got our first car without a CD player and I am rediscovering some albums I have on a USB stick.
  10. An album that flies under the radar.
  11. I don't have the new Palo Alto disc.
  12. Session C. My toddler went bonkers during 'Swing Low, Sweet Cadillac' and has a pretty elaborate dance routine going on.
  13. Pepper Adams - Live
  14. I saw Jiggs Whigham once locally. He had with him a plastic trombone and a rep from the company was in attendance. I'll always remember the look on the rep's face when Jiggs threw the trombone to him (twice!). It was a combined look of horror, annoyance and relief (when he caught it). Jiggs sounded great on plastic and brass trombone and seemed like a fun guy.
  15. Disc 1: One of my favorite Mosaics.
  16. I've seen Rava once with his Tribe group but never Bollani, who is also brilliant.
