  1. Joe, I'm sure you've discussed this before and I apologize to you and the others for bringing this up again, BUT, what amp(s) do you use now for practice and for gigs?
  2. Nice article from today's Philadelphia Inquirer in anticipation of tonight's concert:
  3. You know Joe Morello?
  4. Here's a review which sort of confirms my hunch about the sound--looks like they even use nylon strings. I hope you get to try it out soon and report back--this could be a nice compromise between a regular electric bass and a double bass.
  5. Did you know they sell factory direct? And it looks like they're running a special--$100 off--here. Maybe we CAN get another guitar purchase on this thread tonight.
  6. Nice! Looks like it might come close to a double bass sound.
  7. Didn't buy one, but I did go to the NJ Guitar and Bass Center. They were supposed to be open, but not today. Where's that?
  8. So . . . umm . . . like . . . ummm . . . who bought a new guitar today?
  9. I remember watching it when it was first on (I was 8 or 9 when it premiered). I think it ran for 3 seasons beginning in '64 or '65. Actually, if you want to know the exact dates, ask this guy:
  10. I've had a couple of service glitches with them recently, but a follow-up email from me has always gotten a satisfactory--if not rapid--response. By contrast, a few months ago I sent them a series of service-related emails and recevied responses within hours--or even minutes--of sending!
  11. Speaking of Agile guitars (SOMEONE'S gotta do it ) check out this unusual OOP acoustic/electric beauty on Ebay (I wonder if Jeff designed THIS baby while he was trippin').
  12. How 'bout a link, Dude!
  13. Sure--everyone needs to have FORTY-TWO guitars. I don't have that many... Ron, you asked about the SX basses earlier. Sorry about the late reply, they sell for just $110 (for a P-bass copy). They are made in China, but for the money they are a great deal. I'd say if a person buys one, to plan on getting it setup, and maybe upgrading the electronics, but beyond that they feel pretty good for such cheap basses. I like them better than Fender's budget line Squier basses which sell for almost twice as much. But the question 7/4 and I were contemplating was how the Agiles compare in quality and finish to the SX basses--pay attention, son! (then again, with the people they'll let design those Agiles, maybe they aren't so good )
  14. BTW, here's Marta Kristen NOW, almost 60 years old: SHWAAANG!
  15. And another thing, Chris, if you start gettin' a hankerin' to watch old videos of Angela Cartwright "growing up" while your honey's around the house, just push this button.
  16. Just for Chris, here's a photo of the robot lookin' real sexy:
  17. Sure--everyone needs to have FORTY-TWO guitars.
  18. The only reason the show was worth watching:
  19. Yeah, NOW he says he HOPES you like it, after setting the trap and pushing you in for the kill (with a little help from the rest of us).
  20. The workmanship is very nice, especially for only $250. The ends of the frets are indeed finished and beveled down. The one I got had a couple of little blemishes in one place on the neck binding (I have a photo of them if you're interested), but they're taking it back and sending me a new one (with their apologies for the problem). Other than that, the guitar feels very solid, and is finished beautifully. It compares very well with Ibanez Artcores and Epiphones that cost up to twice as much. You should head up to Union and check it out if you want to see it in person. But be aware that they told me they don't have many left and won't be getting more in until the summer. I asked because when I was there on Saturday trying basses, my buddy was whining 'bout the ends of the frets on them. I might swing by there later this week, even though the Epiphone is supposed to keep me from doing that. The basses are SX brand, aren't they? It could be that the Agile products are better made--they're obviously a bit more expensive. Maybe our resident AGILE DESIGNER would care to weigh in on this (I know Blake's lurking around here somewhere ).
  21. Told ya so.
  22. That is a nice lookin' guitar. How is the workmanship? Are the ends of the frets finished? The workmanship is very nice, especially for only $250. 23. That's supposed to make him feel BETTER?
  24. The last Alleycat!?!?!?! Forget the Alleycat. What you need is a COOL Cat--Grover tuners, a beautiful natural finish, a REAL jazz box, and great customer service--all for only $250 ('cause you aren't paying extra for the Gibson/Epiphone name and advertising ).
  25. Oh the Pain, the PAIN!
