  1. You must be married.
  2. Enjoy! I wish I would of thought of Rondo before I bought the Epiphone (1st post in this thread.). Dammit! Now I have to look at Epiphones also!
  3. Chris, are you anywhere near (or in) the Dakota? (And I now know where I'm staying the next time I'm in NYC )
  4. Well, as much as I know (which isn't much), great! I'm just getting back into guitar after about 30 years, and really hadn't gotten very far when I was a kid. But it sounds great and has nice action out of the box. I'm going to change the strings and may do a little bit of set up myself, or I may just do the rational thing and take it to a luthier. But it's a beautiful guitar with a lot of nice detail and, for $250, is a fantastic deal. I called Rondo before I ordered it, and they told me that they only have a few left, and won't be getting more in until the summer.
  5. The G.A.S. you guys have must be contagious. I received this Agile Cool Cat yesterday and I'm already thinking about which jazz box I can get next. Thanks to you freaks, I've been looking on line at Corts, Ibanez Artcores, . . . . So many guitars, so little time.
  6. Nice view! Is that from Central Park West (best guess)? or 5th Ave. (second guess)?
  7. How much would that be using Media Mail?
  8. You could sell it to me for $50.
  9. I just got this a couple of weeks ago. Terrific.
  10. You owe me for hitting you THAT grounder.
  11. Hmmmm . . . . . . . I wonder where I can find some Organissimo fake books?
  12. Then I'll just hire you to play my guitar.
  13. Thinking about naked women made him forget.
  14. Did you learn to read standard notation pretty much from the beginning?
  15. What do you use in fake books--tab, or music, or both?
  16. So do you learn new stuff mostly from sheet music? or from tabs? or by ear?
  17. I've already discussed this with Jeff in PM's, but I'd be interested in other people's perspectives on this (if they're not too busy soldering at the moment ): Do you use tablature, real sheet music, or both? And for a beginner--or REbeginner--such as myself, who intends to play mostly jazz, would you recommend learning to use tablature, real sheet music, or both in the beginning?
  18. I should've had you pick up the Cool Cat and drive it down to Philly.
  19. I really hope you like it, Ron! Well, if I don't, there's a certain pugnacious feline Trekkie in the Sacramento vicinity who's going to have a slightly used Korean jazz box to do his business in (it's gonna take his owner a long time to get the litter in and out of those "F" holes).
  20. Speaking of modifying and refinishing and soldering guitars, this is what the FedEx tracking site currently says about the Agile Cool Cat I ordered from Rondo Music thanks to Jeff : "On FedEx vehicle for delivery."
  21. Thanks once again to Alan's Jazzmatazz site , I now know who will be with Dave and Marian on 3/16: w/Dave--Robert Militello (sax, flute), Michael Moore (bass), Randy Jones (drums) w/Marian (apparently as a trio, even though the tickets and the Kimmel Center say duo!)--Gary Mazzaroppi (bass), Glen Davis (drums)
  22. Sheesh! I thought getting back into the guitar meant just working on chords and picking and sight reading again, but from the way you guys talk it sounds like I better start working on my soldering technique.
  23. Thanks for those recommendations. I generally buy discs off the net, so it's nice to learn about some of these brick-and-mortar's in town. In terms of Alan's phone number--I'm pretty sure it's available only to high-level jazz record company execs and members of the National Security Council.
  24. Well, there's Alan Lankin's house.
  25. "To Serve Man"
