  6. Agreed! The original chamber version of the entire "Appalachian Spring" ballet and the track of Copland in rehearsal of it were real revelations. And that's after having listened to and loved the full orchestral version for 50-plus years. Just finished listening to a fascinating CD of relatively obscure Copland music written for: (1) a puppet show at the 1939 NY World's Fair ("From Sorcery to Science); (2) a documentary film shown at the 1939 NY World's Fair ("The City (Suite)"); (3) a WWII documentary about the resettlement of refugees in the US ("The Cummington Story (Suite, Arr. Sheffer)"); and (4) a WWII Hollywood film about Ukrainians fighting Nazi invaders ("The North Star (Suite)"), which seems relevant right now.
