Are there any box bargains currently available?
Ron S replied to GA Russell's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
14-day domestic delivery from BlowItOutaHere is very unusual. My many shipments from them (Kentucky to Philly) have usually taken 3-4 business days. However, I've recently had shipments from BlowItOutaHere, MovieMars, and others take significantly longer than usual to get here. In tracking of some recent orders from MovieMars (which uses a DHL/USPS combination service similar to UPS Mail Innovations) and other sellers, I've noticed some shipments just sitting at certain hubs for several days without moving, and then suddenly moving quickly to Philly and my hot little hands. Bottom line, you really can't generalize about these sellers or their delivery times from an isolated order or two. If you order from them regularly, you start to get a feel for their relative speed and reliability. -

Everyone screws up eventually. As I implied, MovieMars' customer service is a step below Blowitoutahere's, at least in my experience of probably hundreds of purchases from both (and as also reflected in their respective ratings/feedback on Amazon Marketplace). By the way, I've also ordered many items directly from their own web sites, in addition to going through Amazon Marketplace. Sometimes, the prices are better that way--definitely worth checking out. MovieMars is usually a bit slower on shipping than Blowitoutahere, as well as in servicing returns, etc. All else being equal, I'll choose Blowitoutahere over MovieMars. But purchases from MovieMars do usually work out--just might take a bit longer (as you discovered). If it ever happens again, you might try giving them a call (sometimes works better for me than email exchanges). -

Blowitoutahere doesn't send tracking links. MovieMars does. I have terrific experience with blowitoutahere, and especially their customer service. If you send them an email, I'm sure they'll respond appropriately. If you order enough CDs (which I'm sure we all do), eventually one or more will get delayed or lost in the mail. It's inevitable. If you order from reputable places (which both MovieMars and Blowitoutahere are), they'll deal with it. Incidentally, both of these places have telephone customer service, if you prefer to contact them that way, and I've always found them both to be quite helpful (through both telephone and email contact). But Blowitoutahere has the edge in terms of customer service. Blowitoutahere: 1-877-491-0066 MovieMars: 1-800-213-8334 -
Just starting to dig into these Supraphon recordings of the Pavel Haas Quartet, a young Czech (of course) quartet, playing the Janacek string quartets, as well as those by--who else?--Pavel Haas (a promising composer who tragically died at Auschwitz, possibly saving Karel Ancerl's life, according to Ancerl): I very much like what I've heard so far. No robots here.

I'd rather not. Maybe the trainwreck session would finally be released as something like "Tyrone Washington Plays For Star-Crossed Lovers" Felser's post reminds me that it's that time of year again to pull out the Plays for Lovers CDs! Wait--you cross-quoted from another thread???? Doesn't that violate the laws of nature, or set up some sort of time-space discontinuance, or something like that?

My only concern is: what's going to happen to Norah Jones?
-
Or, think Concord Music Group.

For those who may be interested, the label that issued this set has it on sale until 1/31/2011 for $9.98 plus $4.00 shipping: http://www.lalalandr...uterLimits.html

Mine is up to 30 days. Wow. I ordered the Masters of Cinema dual-format (BD and DVD) version of the reconstructed METROPOLIS from them on January 2. It took less than a week for it to make its way from the UK to Texas. Granted, it was probably a considerably smaller package than some of the ones being discussed here, and I'm still waiting on a much larger order of MoC DVDs I ordered directly from Eureka Entertainment during the recent sale they had. It's one CD. I believe it's lost. They have no tracking system. Got my December 13th Amazon UK order (from a Marketplace seller in France) today, a month and a day after it was shipped. So once again, hope springs eternal. -

I'm planning to give it another week or two, and then seek a replacement or refund. It sounds like this is a global (figuratively and literally) issue, however, so our orders will probably arrive eventually. -

Likely to be delayed with the backlog due to extreme weather over Xmas. I have a CD from the US that is taking longer than usual so I wouldn't worry too much. Might have worked out better if we had traded orders. -

I currently have 2 orders shipped from Europe on December 13th--one from the UK and the other from France--that are missing in action. Based on what you guys are saying, it seems that I should give them another couple of weeks before seeking replacements or refunds. In the past, shipments from Europe never took more than 2-3 weeks to get here, but I probably never ordered right before the holidays. -

I was just writing along those same lines, when I saw you responded! I've read posts where Mosaic has said that the Boxed sets (not Selects) are sent out in numerical order. However, I was looking through my sets and I ordered the Lionel Hampton set in Feb. 2010 and that number is 4082/5000. Okay, now we have definitive proof that they don't go out in chronological order. I got the Hampton set two weeks ago and my number is 2481. So, the next time somebody says they put them out in the order they are shipped, just link to this thread and we can dispel that impression once and for all. CRAP! Ok, the 4082 is the LESTER YOUNG set....My Hampton is 2415. I placed my order for both the Hampton and Lester Young sets on 2/16/2010. Sorry for the confusion. But even with my typo, you getting your Hampton and it's 2481, I ordered mine a YEAR ago and it's 2415. I sure hope they have sold more than that in a year!!!! WOW. This has come up many times over the last several years, and every time someone contacts Mosaic, we get the same response--the big sets are shipped in sequential order (unless a set is returned, in which case that number is recycled). Brad received a similar response from Mosaic 5 or so years ago, and I used to quote the email HE posted whenever this came up, until I got my very own email (from Fred) a few months ago. Sorry, FOTB. -

Time to trot out the email from Mosaic's Fred about the numbering of the big boxes, which I received--and posted here--in September 2010: Try to pay attention this time! -
I was just kidding Randy a bit. Hopefully, he understands that--I'm pretty sure he does. And I'm pretty sure he'll also appreciate your well-deserved praise.
-
I really like how you've replaced Randy with a drum machine.

Puppy? 11CDs, I'd call that a pup Probably a Saint Bernard or a Great Dane.

So how long will it take this puppy to make it into "Running Low," my rationalization--er, um, I mean cue--to pull the trigger?

I don't see it. Was it a used set? Brand New from Newbury Comics. Now $29.99--still a terrific deal. -
Good timing! I just happen to have 3 Moeran discs in the listening queue (after a couple of others, first).
