  19. I just got back from the airport with the American Way mag. (Actually, I'm more excited about an article in it about ethnic restaurants in Frankfurt). The music article is not online, but I've posted three pages with, I hope, an easier to read chart (even tho they seriously screwed it up). Anyway, it may get folks talking about what you look for in a box set/collection... (Hope you don't mind Tjazz): Pg. 1 Pg. 2 Pg. 3 Also, that d**n misspelling of Monk's name yet again!
  20. OK...or just go to a store with a good selection of art books and sit and browse...
  21. Barak, Here's something I found - maybe your friend could use this? or this? --- Now playing: Steve Reich - The Four Sections I
  22. Actually, in '86 I saw them in Chicago during their US tour. I thought that I saw them before that in '78 at the Pick Staiger Hall, but after some thought, I think that I'm remembering Paul and Limpe Fuchs instead who are also great improvisers that were rarely seen in the US. --- Now playing: Steve Reich - The Four Sections I
  23. Oh, a big Thank you! My world stopped for those weekly programs! (broadcast, I think, on WTTW). --- Now playing: Lonnie Smith - Too Damm Hot
  24. Actually, Chris, I think, is responsible for a very cherished early memory that I'll never get out of my head for the rest of my days. That is of seeing Lonnie Liston Smith on TV performing "Let Us Go Into the House of the Lord." That regular TV jazz program was something that I lived for every week. Have often run that performance over in my head... Considering the nature of my upbringing, this whole thread could become a book for me! I noticed that most answers, so far, have not actually involved a jazz music upbringing. Is this a correct assumption that jazz wasn't played in your (various) homes? --- Now playing: Art Pepper - Zenobia
  25. Remember, I'm not trying to convert you It's just what I find enjoyable. Yes, there's quite a few books written about it, but I think that you've already made up yer mind. --- Now playing: Merzbow - Dynamite Don Don: Pt 2
