  8. This informal session with two basses, piano, tenor and brushes on phone book (!) reminds of me of one I was at in the later 1960s which also included Peter Ind. It was at the Leeds suburban home of Brian Layton, teacher on the local college's "Jazz and Light Music" course and featured piano (Layton) and two basses (Ind and Bernie Cash). All three were on the college's staff. The "audience" was myself and two other jazz fans, one of them bassist Danny Padmore who was later to record with John Bunch and Jon Eardley. If only I'd had recording equipment! It could have been Jazz from Opposite the Headingley Cricket Ground!
