I've got that LP somewhere - I'll dig it out. I remember Humph once describing one of those arrangements as 'a veritable Fair-Isle sweater'. Very apt !
Yes, some delights there; e.g. the saxophone section in the 1957 band which includes Lee Konitz, Hal McKusick, Zoot Sims and (surprise!) Charlie Rouse!

I saw Al Haig once in the seventies - can't say I heard him though! He was on at a Manchester club called The Band on the Wall and I arrived to find the place packed to the doors. At the other side of a sea of people a completely inaudible Haig could just be seen at the piano! Nice he could still draw an audience of that size, I suppose!
At least the people on your chart have salaries. In Britain a lot of teaching in universities and colleges is now done by people who, despite having high academic qualifications, have no salary and are only paid for each hour taught - usually about £20 per hour. Just one of the lesser-known results of Thatcherism!
