It's a Connoisseur set: True Blue Turrentine Blue Hour page. The info on the Blue Note site is wrong.

How obsessed can one get... (Not meaning you, of course)
-
I don't have the set, so no personal comments from me, but maybe this AMG review is helpful.

(Kind of the right place to post this.)
Question to Everyone:
What will it take for the Japanese market to start releasing Atlantic sides again? The short-lived AMCY series whetted my appetite, and then ... nothing? Either I missed more releases, am not paying attention ... something!
Any guesses? I'd like to see the Shorty Rogers' Atlantic sides see a Japanese remaster, as well as the Ornette's, more Mingus, another shot at Infinite Search, what else?
I'll ask Hiroshi Tanno and post his reply here.

Does anyone yet know if this one will be DSD remastered?
Probably not. The Japanese Blackhawk box wasn't either.

Thanks guys. I didn't feel like posting for quite a while for personal reasons, but I managed to get over my reluctance - at least for now...
-
You're welcome!
According to the HMV Japan site the Farnsworth is a hybrid SACD, hence the high price. Can't find anything re the personnel.

I just got another spoof eBay e-mail, and forwarded it to spoof@ebay.com. I wonder if they'll do something about it...

Brad,
Did you forward the e-mail to spoof@ebay.com? I got several of those e-mails last month and forwarded them all. The "eBay spoof dept." ( ) told me they'd investigate and take the necessary steps (for what it's worth...)
-
Sent you a PM.

Sorry catesta, I mistakenly deleted my post by pushing the wrong button...
Damn your clumsy fingers, you've made me look like a total fool.
...And I'm not even talking about my nervous spasms...
-
Hans, I know you've got DEEP POCKETS.
Yeah, I wish...
To be honest with you, I'd be sending my stuff C.O.D with some of these cats here.
Seriously, I know what you are saying, it would be cool if it was a function of the board, but I'm sure that is tough if not impossible. I mean you can't even get on this damn board half of the time.
Sorry catesta, I mistakenly deleted my post by pushing the wrong button...
I said in my post that, aside from the merits, it would be expensive for non-U.S. members. For instance, shipping a CD from Europe to the U.S. would cost at least $2.50...

Been having problems gettin here off and on all day....

Anyone know the going ebay rate for the Blakey Mosaic set?
I'd really like to get my mits on that one but I don't know if I have enough $$ on hand to nab it.
I got it for $210 on eBay a couple of weeks ago.
-
-
The Mosaic's a terrific set, but Lon is right, the TOCJ sounds better than its Mosaic equivalent and so do the TOCJs of all albums that were included in the set - with the exception of the first date, of course, which was never available as a "Blue Note Works" TOCJ. Toshiba first released that one in 1990 (CJ28-5128) and reissued it as a JRVG.
-
I just picked this up, and am really digging it. Question for those of you with the new Verve release - on "Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea," about three minutes into the song a clicking/popping noise starts and it doesn't stop the rest of the song. Are all copies like this, or are they supposed to be like this?
Same here.
-
Added the Orioles (not the remakes, though) to the list.
-
For Mr. Litwack:
This CD contains remakes, not the original recordings: AMG review.

Malcolm Addey did another very fine job with this great set
