  1. Just started playing this set yesterday - lets you know how far I am behind in my listening - and am very pleased with the transfers. Little Niles sounds much better than my old mono original and no Jubilee lp ever sounded as good as the transfer for Piano-A-La-Mode. The unissued session is a worthy addition, indeed! I have not done an a/b comparo on the third disc but it sounds fine.

    Malcolm Addey did another very fine job with this great set :tup

  2. (Kind of the right place to post this.)

    Question to Everyone:

    What will it take for the Japanese market to start releasing Atlantic sides again? The short-lived AMCY series whetted my appetite, and then ... nothing? Either I missed more releases, am not paying attention ... something!

    Any guesses? I'd like to see the Shorty Rogers' Atlantic sides see a Japanese remaster, as well as the Ornette's, more Mingus, another shot at Infinite Search, what else?

    I'll ask Hiroshi Tanno and post his reply here.

  3. The following CDs are scheduled for release.

  4. Hans, I know you've got DEEP POCKETS. ;)

    Yeah, I wish... :excited::blink:

    To be honest with you, I'd be sending my stuff C.O.D with some of these cats here.  :P

    Seriously, I know what you are saying, it would be cool if it was a function of the board, but I'm sure that is tough if not impossible. I mean you can't even get on this damn board half of the time. ;)  :P  :D  :g

    Sorry catesta, I mistakenly deleted my post by pushing the wrong button... :winky:

    I said in my post that, aside from the merits, it would be expensive for non-U.S. members. For instance, shipping a CD from Europe to the U.S. would cost at least $2.50...

  7. The Mosaic's a terrific set, but Lon is right, the TOCJ sounds better than its Mosaic equivalent and so do the TOCJs of all albums that were included in the set - with the exception of the first date, of course, which was never available as a "Blue Note Works" TOCJ. Toshiba first released that one in 1990 (CJ28-5128) and reissued it as a JRVG.

  8. I just picked this up, and am really digging it. Question for those of you with the new Verve release - on "Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea," about three minutes into the song a clicking/popping noise starts and it doesn't stop the rest of the song. Are all copies like this, or are they supposed to be like this?

    Same here.
