  1. I should think all sympathies will be with the underdogs here. Also, the Colemans do not seem to be warmly regarded as team players.
  2. Just even reading legalese makes me feel vaguely guilty.
  3. A long time ago. Our case to have Andorra excluded from the European Union - or, if it has already been excluded, to include it again - will be heard before the World Court (when that comes into existence) before the end of this or the next century. In the meantime, there is the court of public opinion. In which we are masters. Masters, I tell you.
  4. The lawyers wrote that, we can be sure they had their reasons for the way they shaped the charge. You can see that the defence lawyer has deliberately countered it.
  5. The teaching claim is there to support the bootleg case.
  6. If you've read anything at all on this board in the last ten years, you'll know we have been preparing ourselves for exactly this moment. Our time has come.
  7. When are the elections?
  8. It looks to me as if the legal point hinges on the claim that this is a 'bootleg', and it seems that the case has been shaped by the need to show that this is a bootleg under that law, although other laws are also mentioned. I know we have one or two people here who could maybe comment on the legals...
  9. Why can't people just get along?
  10. I strongly disagree with this statement. Well, even if you don't share my less is more perspective, you might agree that the 1996 sound is a little hard, even cold, and might benefit from remastering? Can't say I find the 1996 CD cold and/or hard. It's always sounded vey good to me. I've not heard the original LP so have nothing to compare it too. Well, I'm just agreeing with JLH, but I realise it isn't going to happen.
  11. jcam, let me know how you go with that one if you get a chance. Have come close to picking it up a couple of times but it gets mixed reviews. A solo Sonny disc is mighty tempting. According to the board it's a dud, dude. Like most things there are easy ways to pre-listen rather than punt - though punting is fun... http://youtu.be/_PwVBEcUUzk
  12. http://www.freshsoundrecords.com/carmell_jones_quartet_previously_unreleased_los_angeles_session-cd-6285.html Carmell Jones Quartet: Previously Unreleased Los Angeles Session Carmell Jones Featuring: Carmell Jones (tp), Forrest Westbrook (p), Gary Peacock (b), Bill Schwemmer (d) REFERENCE: FSRCD 867 BAR CODE: - In August 1960, 24-year old trumpet player Carmell Jones left his Kansas City home-town and hopped a bus to Los Angeles, intent on hitting the West Coast jazz scene. There, his impact was immediate and would prove to be memorable. He was quickly part of a quartet with pianist Forrest Westbrook, bassist Gary Peacock and drummer Bill Schwemmer. They rehearsed at Westbrook’s apartment at 2021 Sta. Monica Blvd, Hollywood, where this unreleased material was recorded at the end of that month. It was an amazing session, in which Carmell, oozing confidence and assertiveness, demonstrated a fresh, virile and imaginative style, with a warm ballad tone and an authoritatively implacable swing at up tempo. The highly responsive rhythm section locked right on him all the way, and also revealed Forrest Westbrook as a highly talented and sensitive pianist, with an advanced concept of improvisation, and a built-in propensity for swinging hard. Along with the pungently powerful Peacock and the driving Schwemmer, they provided an ideally vigorous support for Carmell Jones, who, unbelievably soon, would come to be regarded as among the finest trumpeters on the West Coast. These never-beforereleased recordings, his first on the Coast, show why. Tracklisting: 01. Willow Weep for Me (Ronell) 7:25 02. If I Love Again (Oakland-Murray) 6:02 03. Ruby (Ray Charles) 6:27 04. 13. I've just played the 2009 digipack of Meditations again. It is HORRIBLE. I'm going to buy 5000 copies of the new version and pave my drive with them. My message to the world.
  14. That's enough now. Please don't age any further.
  15. Not in store as of yesterday but soon, soon...
  16. I'm only a dabbler in reissues these days BUT the 'domestic' digipack of Meditations is just horrible so...thanks for the heads up and keep them coming...
  17. Bird really did have a weird moustache like that in some photos....
  18. I strongly disagree with this statement. Well, even if you don't share my less is more perspective, you might agree that the 1996 sound is a little hard, even cold, and might benefit from remastering?
  19. Definitely with him on the whole not singing and playing at the same time thing. A useful alibi.
  20. John Ireland. Well well. Nice piano concerto...
  21. Would I have bought Sound again? Probably not. But the existing CD is a dilution of the LP and it is a pity not to have the original edit on CD and in improved sound.
  22. The thrill is gone. RIP.
  23. Shots is already up for pre-order on amazon uk, as is Tales Out Of Time, and the Eskelin, Distel, Von Orelli, and (earlier) Wintsch titles.
  24. In spite of the moaning this label is keeping things alive. A welcome reissue for the Braxton/Lewis Donaueschingen duo is now slated, and what seems to be a previously unreleased Braxton solo, Bern 1984.
