  1. So here’s the relevant law for sales into UK from outside. WTF. https://www.gov.uk/guidance/vat-and-overseas-goods-sold-to-customers-in-the-uk-using-online-marketplaces
  2. Ha ha. I got it for medical reasons not age, so you’ll have to keep guessing... 😉
  3. Maybe they could include The Kicker - ?
  4. I didn’t think you were but I just wanted to say it for the record! The objective of the vaccine program is to suppress the virus generally. It does not make you safe just maybe safer. I for one will continue to be as cautious as I was before. AZ vaccine gives maybe only 62% protection on average but even if you have the Pfizer which is claimed to be 95% effective you would not take those odds every time you get on an airplane.
  5. I don’t think like that. It was just balance of risk, AFAIAC.
  6. I only checked for AZ, and I only knew that’s the one I was getting when I got there. As for the evident haste, I’ve come to the conclusion that they are ‘taking a broad general view’ (in the words William Burroughs puts into the mouths of authoritarian figures).
  7. I’ll call them when they open, I guess, but this IS a listed side effect. As for trials, there seems to be more publicity out there than hard facts about people in my medical category. I accepted the call to go in at short notice. I took a punt.
  8. OK so I had the AZ vaccine yesterday and 12 hours later I’m burning up like I’ve got flu. Super.
  9. I’ve been comparing the two on Bandcamp, that’s why I was wondering how much difference you found between them. I’m a Butcher enthusiast though I’ve never bothered much with his records.
  10. I left after 14. That’ll show em.
  11. UK I think is not compiling data on vaccine refusals. But one care home owner reported to the press that 50% of his staff had refused the vaccine. So this is an emerging story, I think. Maybe the actual medical staff know something we don’t.
  12. Ok so they told me wait 15 minutes in the car before driving off.
  13. I’m literally in line at the vaccination centre now and I drove. I’ll let you know if they get me to hang around after I’ve had it.
  14. Ha ha. When I was writing that I’d just consulted an article on the topic written before the UK jumped overboard.
  15. Are you keen on this? Or does it put us back in the Guerilla Mosaics territory of some (!) years ago?
  16. It’s gone the other way, in fact: https://www.gov.uk/government/news/vat-scrapped-on-e-publications
  17. UK does not tax books but some other EU countries do, though at a lower rate. So I guess tax would be payable on books imported to e.g. Germany from the UK.
  18. So - where are you now?
  19. I don’t know if there’s an upper limit or any kind of limit based on age and rarity. Nothing I buy is much more than 100 years old but I’m guessing that if you tried to ship a Gutenberg bible you might get asked questions.
  20. Printed matter is exempt from VAT. Thankfully.
  21. Just catching up with this. Terrific.
  22. Another dimension of this is that you need to check very carefully where amazon sellers are located.
  23. I’m also wondering how much shipping charges may have changed as UK will likely not benefit from being classified as an EU destination by EU websites. Some sites specify sometimes very different costs for EU and ROW. On the plus side I just spotted that Jazzmessengers now deducts sales tax for UK users.
  24. Should we maybe merge this with my thread?
