  2. No, but that's just me. I like Peterson, got three Trio records, but I'm not a diehard fan.
  3. They used to smell really good. Not the one in the first post though.
  4. Oh I dont know. At the website? I'll check it out.
  5. I picked the last one, because none of the choices were, I write a lot of reviews on amazon.
  6. I have three pages of reviews. My Amazon Reviews
  7. I have one station. It has always been my dream to have good jazz radio, I guess I just have to wait until I die.
  8. Seems the ebay fiasco continues.
  9. Nice legs!
  10. I dont think he's gettin in there.
  11. I was playing his Blue Note abum with Brownie, the heath brothers, John lewis, Klook, what was the name? I forgot.
  12. Yeah, but I don't got the best stations here either. The radio station broadcasts in New jersey,(wbgo) I'm here in New York. It rarely comes in good, and even then there's still static.
  13. That would be heaven wouldnt it.
  14. I have seen those albums in my local vinyl shop. Man that kid had one big una-brow! I remember one of the albums had them playing on the back, it was in black and white. That was wicked, how were those kids?
  15. Oh, who's that other guy, J.J Johnson.
  16. yeah now its starting to ring a bell. I remember seeing that album in that little card that comes with all those Columbia reuissues.
  17. They actually had another hit, Soulful Strut that I would like to hear.
  18. Some double meaning.
  19. I really don't think this is accurate, Brad. The fact is that from the start, Michael was putting things out that Alfred didn't. Before Alfred was introduced to Michael, he supposedly wanted to know who this person was who was putting out all those LT dates. Further, there have been a number of issues of material that Alfred explicitly rejected, like Brooks' Minor Move and Grant's first session. I'm pretty sure there have been several others as well, though I'm not sure if The Kicker was actually rejected at the time or not. So I don't think Michael is just protecting Alfred's legacy or image. He has respect for Alfred's original judgement, but its hardly kept him from putting out music that Alfred didn't want to issue. Remember that he's been dealing with the Blue Note vaults since the mid-70s, thirty years of reissues. If its worth putting out, wouldn't it have come out by now? My personal opinion is that we are down to the truly "unworthy of release" sessions, and maybe the only way to hope for something to see the light of day, would be a Mosaic Select dedicated to those sessions that everyone wonders about but have no chance of coming out as regular reissues. Maybe you could get the train wreck, this date, and the rest of the Dex/Stitt session, complete with Alfred yelling, "Vhat the hell are you doing?" This is sad that there are no good sessions left. What's the point of any more reissues then? I see your point, but I still think there are some good gems waiting to be released.
  20. Driving home in the car a few minutes ago I turned on the radio. It was a trumpet quintet, had no idea who it was. When it was over the man said it was Miles. It didn't sound like Miles when I first heard it. It was "No Blues," recorded at the Blackhawk. JImmy Cobb, Wynton Kelly, Hank Mobley, Mr P.C. This was the first time I heard Jimmy Cobb take a drum solo. I was surprised to learn it was Jimmy. That's all.
  21. I dont know if its just me, but I have seen a lot of pictures with flugelhorn players and some of them look at different sizes. Do they come in sizes?
  22. Is your pleasure the important factor here? I know.
  23. Back to the Tracks was sequenced, mastered, given a catalog number and cover and was pictured in other jacket sleeves. It wasn't unreleased due to the sales of True Blue, Alfred later said he couldn't remember why it was never actually released except that it was a very busy time and it must have somehow just fallen by the wayside. He fully intended to release it. The sales from True Blue were low though right? I read it in some book.
  24. I guess we won't know Alfred's true reason. Maybe record sales? That's why he didnt release The Waiting Game and Back To The Tracks, by Tina Brooks, because True Blue was so low.
