    The Jazztet

Yep, and that means he's not a guest star? No matter..
  2. I love the bass. I got an electric but it has been my dream to play an acoustic bass. Any out there swing it on the bass?

No? What did I have wrong?

Hmm, I have it pictured on one of my Argo/Cadet record sleaves, The Jazztet And John Lewis, with Art Farmer and Benny Golson, number 684.

    The Jazztet

I remember seeing one with John Lewis. I guess they had a lot of guest artists.

Would you say the Jazztet was revolutionary and/or highly successful? You dig them? I still think Meet The Jazztet is one of the greatest albums ever!
  8. He's probaly got Bobby M. on alto, Randy Jackson on drums, and maybe his son on bass.
  9. tru ddat!
  10. I'm just worried, if I ever get married and she dies first, who will pay the bills, buy the food, and cook.
  11. You gotta check him out. He blended just a tiny bit of jazz into his music, but it all worked out good. He should of invented a new style of music, but he was practically the only doing what he was doing.
  12. Moanin' of course!
  13. Who's with him? Is this a reunion thing, with Gene and Joe?
  14. Happy Birthday Wes! I found out farily recently, compared to how long I have been listening to Wes that he died at such an early age. There is actually footage of him appearing on The Hollywood Palace, weeks before he died in 1968. I think he preformed Windy from one of his current A&M albums at the time. Herb Alpert hosted the show, and Brazil 66, Baja Marimba Band, Liza Manelli, Boyce And Hart, Burt Bacharach were also on the show. I own the tape.

    Miles Davis

Like a Percy Faith or Hank Mancini record? Mellow big Band with strings, as I like to call it. Yeah I like that.

    Miles Davis

    And Alpert produced everything himself.

Alpert. It's with a P. I'm not really saying the whole You're Under Arrest Album is like Alpert, mainly Time After Time and Human Nature.
  18. Yeah I dont like that place. Haven't ventured over there since the first few days of my existence here.

Alpert. Herb was a good trumpet player. Very sharp. Nothing he played was wimpy. He had a sound similar to Miles, in the mellow category. The sound as a whole sounds the same. During Rise, Alpert was still play more of a fusion style, some funk influence. In the 80's he was practically completely all pop, just like Davis.

Yeah me too, but cut alpert alittle slack. Time After Time, and Human Nature sound identical to Alpert's late 80's recordings as Blow Your Own Horn, Magic Man, Beyond, etc..
