  1. That was the most intelligent thing I have heard/read all day.
  2. Others just ramble on and on, or talk about nothing.
  3. Like this!
  4. This happens on every board. SOme people post in pieces.
  5. He said he did do that. But yes, you're 100 percent right.
  6. My first post was just a joke. I got what you were saying. You would say I Hear A Rhapsody is a standard right? Of course. But is it recorded as much as My Funny Valentine? No. I got you. I was just playing, you dont have to change no title.
  7. I dont know, they were never recorded.
  8. Yeah it was. It was at the Blue Note in NYC where kids could come up and play. And when all the kids did go up, I played drums, on the drummer's lap. Then later on for the ocnclusion when he played Feels So Good, I started playing trumpet to the song at my seat so he told me to come up with him, and I did it. I was the only kid on the stage.
  9. Wow, I'll bet your chops were already better than his. How bad did you cut him? B-) Sorry SS. Couldn't resist. Like some have said, Art Blakey didn't hire him because he was a wimp. During his days at Eastan he has said he was so stuborn, that he wouldn't play, teach, or listen to anything that wasn't bop. That obviously changed, but bback to McCoy b4 you guys start yelling.
  10. Wow, I have to learn more about this video!
  11. OMG Killer Joe has to be my favorite jazz song in the world!!!
  12. Wow, you guys are lucky. The only Jazz musician I met was Chuck Mangione. I actually played with him on stage when I was eight also.. IT was pretty cool. Just me, he even let me solo on Feels So Good. (I played trumpet at the time) Prett exciting.
  13. Speaking of technology blues, we just bought another DVD player because it would always say, "no disc." Bought a 'good' one, and it said the same thing. So we bought a thrid one! Well no trouble yet, but was that really necessary. ONe other thing I have noticed, is as tv, vcrs, and dvd players get smaller, better, advanced etc. one thing keeps getting bigger and bigger: THE FRIKEN REMOTE. It's the size of a stapler!
  14. Well be happy you got back on. The computer, just another piece of technology that addicts us, well me, and makes us go CRAZY!!!
  15. thank god

    which brother

  17. Joe Morello-legally blind.
  18. Thats what usually happens with boards, but very rarely do we get members that become 'frequent contributors.' Which is what I like to call them. Many post once or twice, or three times, than leave, never to be seen again. Then some don't post at all. I guess they forget that they joined a message board. Can you really do that by accident?
  19. Thats great! You guys are finding jazz groups and dates with guitar and bass, (and drums for some reason which I did not say) but my initial comment was that it was not COMMON. Did not say never, just not as common as a tenor, piano, bass, and drums setup.
  20. guitar, bass, talking bout setups. Just a guitar and a bass isnt the MOST common format in a jazz setting.
  21. You know, it took me a long long time to dig Weather Report's Heavy Weather. I just played it last night, 10 times straight, I think it's starting to get to me. After long hours of 70's fusion, I had to just let my Joe Pass spin for a while. The synths got to me, too much.
  22. Pretty soon I will be playing with just a bass player, with me on guitar; dont believe I have seen that too much.
  23. I just found out today.
  24. O, okay then..
