I really enjoy that one. Was listening to it the other day. If you dig it, also check out "Year of the Elephant" with the same band, if you don't have it already. Very good. I also enjoy "Year of the Elephant", it was the reason to dig deeper into the work of Wadada Leo Smith. Another one I listen to very often lately is "America" the duet with Jack DeJohnette. Highly recommended!

All great choices! Regarding the Tapscott you won't be dissapointed the remastering was done really well. The music sounds fresh and brilliant.

I just saw that picture while searching a a blue note record on amazon: Does anyone has more information on this book ? I've checked the german amazon site which states that this book will be release on 30th September 2009. I'm really looking forward reading this one as I enjoyed the other Ashley Kahn Kahn books very much.

That's coming out in the US on Tuesday. What did you think of it? After some spins I'm pretty exited about this one. Very good compositions, great playing! Jack DeJohnettes drumming stands out for me!

anything new about this one, except for the cover photo? This reissue was newly mastered on April 2009, but as I don't have the original issue I unfortunately cannot compare.

Regarding the Blue Note liner notes, I'm with you if we talk about the original liner notes, but I really like the "A new look at .." ones (mostly by Bob Blumenthal), they're almost all informative and reflective about music and about the time the music was originally recorded.

I just ordered the Paralan, what a nice gift :-)
