  1. The Rangers suck. BIG TIME. Zero pitching, and even less offense. What, we've only had one game where we scored more than four runs? To top it all off, we have a manager who's looking at his team with rose-colored glasses, not blaming McCarthy for his pathetic performance last night. I knew it was gonna be a long season. This is gonna be like watching the Mavs back in the gory days of when they were winning 10, maybe 11 games all season.
  2. Oh yeah, and last time I checked, Baldwin was/is a worthless POS before all this happened. So is Kim Basinger. This ain't news. Isn't there a war going on somewhere? Still, on the other hand, I've raised a daughter, who is now 20. We love each other very much. But we also had our knock-down drag-outs as she was growing up. The differences being a) we never resorted to name-calling, b) I'm not a multi-million-dollar actor who's every actions are in the public eye, and c) I'm still happily married to her mother. In any event, while Baldwin's actions in this action are inexcusable, they're hardly different than any other exasperated-father/petulant-teenager argument. Like Jim said, the sick part of this was Basinger's decision to make this public. Who's the worse parent here?
  3. That's certainly a lot more rational than my solution: put the parents on an island away from civilization, whichever one is left standing gets thrown to the sharks while their daughter attempts to live a normal life outside of the public eye. Maybe Dakota Fanning's parents could adopt her.
  4. Eternal spirit, indeed. Not totally unexpected, but for a man whose music is so full of life, it's difficult to realize that he's mortal like the rest of us. "Like the rest of us......" We should be so lucky.
  5. When I heard Cody's version in the 70s, it brought up vague memories of hearing Johnny Bond's version in the early 60s. I assumed that Bond's was the original, but when I did a google it turned out that a guy named Charlie Ryan wrote "Hot Rod Lincoln" and recorded it about five years before Bond. Trivia - I know. I've got that 45 by Charlie Ryan. Very skiffle, very rockabilly.
  6. Last time I checked. Good friends with Prince, also a JW of late. What goes around, I guess...
  7. Check out this interview with Larry Graham: Man, talk about rose-colored glasses. Or maybe revisionist history. I don't know; obviously since I wasn't there, I really can't argue. But doesn't this go against pretty-near EVERYTHING I've read about that time?
  8. Well, it didn't happen in New York, or Boston, so who cares! Seriously, it was a hell of a pitching job, Tim, well, lets call him Tim K., on Baseball tonight mentioned that not one pitch was thrown above 90 MPH! And to do that against the Ranger's lineup is very impressive! No it ain't; this is the RANGERS were talking about here. Seriously, that was freakin' cool, even if it was against my team.
  9. I, for one, am predicting an upset. And I'm a Mavs fan.
  10. Happy birthday, fellow Texan! Click here for a special birthday surprise!
  11. Man, this is ugly. Seven minutes to go and down by 30. Bleah! I guess we know who WON'T be starting any playoff games.
  12. What is there to say? You've seen one Rangers season, you've seen 'em all. Same story, different actors. I know; I've been a fan for the last 30+ years.
  13. Yes, get both deluxe editions. The respective live sets are well worth the extra bucks.
  14. You got THAT right! I keep hoping that I'll stumble over a copy of JOHNNY SMITH the way I've stumbled over THE SWINGER AND MR. SWING, the Lalo Schifrin VEE, MOTION..... figure it's only a matter of time!
  15. Well then, maybe I'll leave it up for posteriority!
  16. Updated. This thread will self-destruct tonight (I mean, beyond the self-destruction already taking place )
  17. You said YOU wanted to keep them. I'm hurt!
  18. Aw, c'mon man: I just put on my parachute pants for this thread! Sale pending on the 80's BG. Seriously!

  21. All prices include shipping to US or Canada. SOLD $7 Benny Goodman-Live at Carnegie Hall (The old 80's version. Jewel case has a couple cracks. CDs are all scratched to hell, but are playable for the most part. Caveat emptor (ie no refunds on this one). Maybe you've got a good CD polisher and have to have this version. In any event, that's why it's so cheap) SOLD $15 Benny Goodman-Live at Carnegie Hall (The Phil Schaap revisionist-history-masquerading-as-some-major-earth-shattering-discovery, complete with surface-noisy crap sound. Still, the packaging is nice!) (Yes, I got the disconforme issue. It smokes those two, BTW) $4 Mwandishi: The (halfway) Complete WB Recordings of Herbie Hancock (Disc two only, no booklet. I lost the first disc and the booklet when I moved seven years ago. I've since re-purchased the entire set) $7 The Complete Gerry Mulligan Meets Ben Webster Sessions (VME. I just can't bring myself to trash them, since I no longer have the discs.
