  1. Well I expected them to lose but I didn't expect to wake up to find out that Dice-K walked off the mound holding his back and hip - and supposedly its "shoulder fatigue". The guy who was described as having a bionic shoulder when the Red Sox got his medical records is now out with a bad shoulder. Jesus Christ. If this doesn't guarantee that the Sox won't "run away" with the division I don't know what would. Ah, quit yer bitchin'. You just said yesterday that you have a deep lineup/rotation/platoon/pocket. The loss of Dice-K won't kill you guys, and if it does then maybe this team wasn't as good as advertised to begin with. And last I checked, you guys were still in first place or tied for it. Thanks to the Rays losing to..... THE RANGERS of all people! Who'da thunk?
  2. Break 'em up - they're a run scoring machine! Seriously, make a point of enjoyng Josh Hamilton's season. He's moved beyond the "great comeback human interest story" to now being a very dangerous & exciting hitter. Well, we get our fifth try to get above .500 today, so we'll see how that goes. I really hope they win: it would keep their streak of series wins/ties alive. And yeah, this Ranger fan is really enjoying Hamilton's resurgence, especially given everything he's been through (or put himself through). The Rangers are finally starting to play like a good team. I hope it lasts, but the real test will be in July and August. But it's certainly an improvement over last year, when the season was already over by this time last year.
  3. Appreciate the effort Al , but my earlier attempt at jocularity with this bunch in here should have demonstrated the futility of it . Thanks, but I've been on this board a helluva long time, and you won't find a more jocular bunch. Please, let us know if/when you have something to sell. I hope you won't take any of us to task for dropping in on your thread and informing everyone that they can get the same thing cheaper elsewhere.
  4. Good point, I was going to create a thread on 'Yellow jazz musicians or Otherwise, no fun in categorizing people. I thought she'd be listed under "Buddhist Jazz Musicians"
  5. I guess maybe there aren't any.
  6. Amen AND Hallelujah!
  7. Isn't it obvious that Chas must believe my opening price was too high? Otherwise, why would he bother wasting his time/keystrokes... Did you buy it from him for $39.99?
  8. Besides, the Missouri Synod won't give me their list! Wisconsin Synod doesn't even acknowledge the existence of jazz, so there ya go.
  9. A favorite bit: the proper pronunciation of "ballet," which ended with Martin walking off saying he needed to use the "toi-lay!" RIP
  10. "Funny, she doesn't look Druish!"
  11. Work? Some off the top of my head: Nat Hentoff Chris Albertson Richard Rodgers
  12. Why the hell not?
  13. Well, that explains why I don't remember him: he was only with us briefly in 2001 before we sent him to Oakland. Hey Dan, you know more about this stuff than I do: who did the Rangers get when we sent Duscherer to the A's? EDIT: Never mind, I found it: Luiz Vizcaino. And is it possible for the Rangers to get above .500 this year? I think that's as good as they're gonna get this year.
  14. I always thought he was as well, but in some recent interviews I've read, he seems to be more non-denominational than anything else.
  15. ACE FREHLEY?????? I was going to start a "Yearning for Zion (YFC) Jazz Musicians" thread, but thought I should start closer to home (spiritually, not geographically) instead.
  16. Just curious if there were any..... I'm Lutheran, but I only wish I were a jazz musician.
  17. Got mine. Direct deposited right to the saving account where it is accumulating approximately 2% annual interest!
  18. Don't let Al stiff you with his beer bill. I think I don't remember what you're talking about.
  19. 67% Dixie, which surprised me because my answers were all over the map!
  20. Just placed my order after listening to it in its entirety on Rhapsody. What a bah-YOOOO-tee-ful album!!! Great work!
  21. Man, if we can work it into our schedule, we'll definitely hook up!
  22. We're going to be up there July 21-23. Hope you've got some gigs those days!
  23. Good blog entry, as usual! Listened to THIS HERE and THE PRESTIGE TRIOS on Rhapsody yesterday, and found THIS HERE to be more enjoyable to my tastes. The songs are compact, bluesy, soulful, energetic, filled with passion and excitement. The Prestige trio dates just seemed to be.... there. IMO only and YMMV. Gonna have to pick up THIS HERE; any opinions on the Fantasy SACD?
