  2. Forgot to mention Ryan Seacrest and his installments. Screw the fact that we don't have enough time for covering field events at the olympic ****ing games, let's have Ryan Seacrest talk to people in prime time about what's going on in social media. People are talking about Gabby! Fantastic. Thanks so much for that important reporting.
  3. Exactly. It's not just that they're choosing to bombard us with gymnastics and swimming and beach volleyball at the expense of the field events in track. How much time to they spend on goofy interviews, profiles of random athletes, and the often irrelevant pieces by Jimmy Roberts and Mary Carillo? In prime time! I actually like a lot of those pieces, but they shouldn't be aired in prime time at the expense of important competition. f you want to follow track and field, you have to: a) ignore what the tv menus are telling you is going to be aired that night; and b) Sit through l-o-n-g blocks of coverage of gymnastics, beach volleyball, etc, and hope that you can stay awake until the late hours.
  4. This data is incomplete. There was another Malpaso/Warner Bros CD which included the rest of the Beehive tracks. I sent the correct info to Mr. Friedwald many years ago, but he apparently disregarded it. I also alerted Mike Fitzgerald to the existence of the other CD (in 2004), here in a thread about the Beehive discography. In addition to the above listed "Remembering Madison County" CD, there was also a CD titled "The Bridges Of Madison County" (Malpaso / Warner Bros. 45949), which included the remaining Beehive tracks: "Easy Living", "I See Your Face Before Me" (same version as on 46259, but mastered at a different speed), "It Was Almost Like A Song", and "For All We Know", in addition to tracks by Dinah Washington, Barbara Lewis, and Irene Kral.
  5. This brings back a memory of analyzing and comparing the tracks from the Beehive LP and the BoMC CD's, and gradually coming to that conclusion.

  11. Thinking back to what I saw in my LP-collecting years, I think the shorter thread topic would have been "Things Not Written On Used LP's You've Picked Up".

  14. Okay, thanks Mike. Hey, is this already included in the "Album covers with sheet music on a stand" thread?
  15. Okay, but one thing will never change... me being confused.
  16. Still not enough of a clue for me, but I still love this piece. At first I was getting an Ellington/Strayhorn kind of vibe (from the composition), but at any rate, I can't seem to imagine this melody in a different arrangement (if that makes any sense). I just don't recognize it... but there probably still could be a few mega-famous recordings from the 50's that I haven't yet gotten hip to. Anyway, I'm going to keep trying (not anxious for a reveal yet, personally).
  17. Well duh, now that I've reviewed the thread again, I see that this tune had ALready been ID'd. NICE get, Al! I'll learn to read (and listen) one of these daze. Don't think it's Clifford Jordan, though.
  18. Okay, now I'm even more confused. I thought we were agreeing that it's an alto on "Morning Star". I know Moore as a tenor player only. Not only that, but I already listened to the Moore recording yesterday, during the searches I mentioned in my previous post. The sample at CD universe (not the recording Tony chose, unless my ears are failing me) can be played here: http://www.cduniverse.com/search/xx/music/pid/4766718/a/Images.htm So...
  19. Good ear, Mike- you are correct on the song title. I'm sure I've heard this tune before, but it isn't all that familiar to me, despite the fact that I find it very appealing. I've got over 300 GB of music in my iTunes files, and this gem of a tune is not in there. I just searched like crazy for possibilities as to who recorded this version, and I've come up empty. Thought maybe it was indeed Tom Harrell, but I can't find a recording to match this one, with its lovely arrangement (which reminds me of the style of Benny Golson, btw). Looking forward to finding out who this is. Hopefully a few more people will post here before Tony reveals (seems like a short discussion thus far).

  21. I chose a ringtone that sounds like this: I'm liking it. Reminds me of a simpler time.
  22. "Anima Christi" and "Praise The Lord" both feature Green playing a lot of prominent-in-the-mix chords and fills (mostly pet licks), but no extended solos.
  23. I'm seeing a playlist of 26 movie trailers. hey Jim R. it's an embedded vid from youtube of the trailer for Marty. works ok for me. not sure what's up. if others also have trouble i'll delete. just wanted to share a taste of my favorite Borgnine film... When I refresh the page, I briefly see a still shot from "Marty", but then it loads as the playlist I referred to. Weird... never seen this happen before.
