  1. Claus Ogerman (assuming you're still talking about Terra Brasilis ). I'd recommend reading this thread:
  2. I'm pretty sure you're incorrect about that too, but if you know of some rare item I'm unaware of, I'd sure like to hear about it. Interesting little twist on the book story: http://chicagotheband.us/profiles/blogs/antonio-carlos-jobim-an-illuminated-man
  3. Must have been the weed, then. On a recording?
  4. I've been asking that question for years, and was happy to discover (just now) via a web search that Helena Jobim's "Um Homem Illuminado" (an illuminated man) was indeed translated (FINALLY!!!!!) in 2011 by one Dario Borim Jr. http://books.google.com/books?id=Fv2z_0KZNrUC&printsec=frontcover#v=onepage&q&f=false
  5. No, that's incorrect. You still haven't said which recording you're referring to. Maybe we should start there. I lost my database in a hard drive crash, otherwise I'd try to find an example of this. At any rate, I don't believe that those two songs are "usually paired together", by Jobim or anyone else.
  6. Terra Brasilis was not a compilation. Vivo Sonhando (Dreamer) and Se Todos Fossem Iguais A Voce (Someone To Light Up My Life) are two separate songs. Maybe you knew that... but it was unclear from reading your post. Agree with Lon- Inedito is a must for any Jobim fan.
  7. R.E.M. Remo Williams The Adventurers
  8. His voice always reached me, even when I was barely old enough to know what I was listening to. I was about five when Moon River came out, and I think that was one of the first things that made me aware of my love of music. RIP, Andy. Thanks for the vids, Jim. I would submit this for a few minutes of focused listening. Check out the range, the power, the timing, the expression... the arrangement is pretty special, too...
  9. Rollie Fingers Roly Salley Chris Isaak
  10. Sweeeeeeet! Surf's up, eh? I've had a bunch of Strats over the years (and still have one), but no other Fender models- not even a Tele. So many guitars, so little time. Anyway, love the look of those gold anodized guards. Enjoy, my man.
  11. If we had that, just imagine how much more the terrorists would hate us. And you are talking about frozen yogurt, yes? If not, I'll have to think about it.
  12. That's another one I was trying to bring up from the deepest recesses of my memory. Good job, brownie.
  13. Beau Bridges Les Spann George Cables
  14. 'Cello Balboa Viola Davis Clara Bow
  15. There's text on that one. But at least it's a jazz album!
  16. Theodore Roosevelt Jack and Jill Richard S. Ewell
  17. Russ Freeman - Pacific Jazz 10" LP
  18. Liza Overs, Kieran Ocean, Billy
  19. There are more Xanadu titles that made it to CD, though. I'd list the ones I have, but I lost my database in a hard drive crash. Anyway, there were some issued out of Europe, and there was (is?) also a label called 'Prevue' that released quite a few titles some years ago. Just as an example, I have "Barry Harris Plays Barry Harris" on CD. It was issued out of France in 1990 by the EPM label. The booklet lists about 25 other titles they released at that time.
  20. Pistol Pete Maravich Pete Duel The Indiana Pacers
  21. As far as can tell, Peter Sprague's "Message Sent on the Wind" was never issued on CD. It's available either on vinyl or via a download from his website; and I see no evidence elsewhere that a CD was ever issued.
  22. Hank Gathers Dr. No Randy Moss
  23. Elias Howe Charlie Lau Mao
  24. Annie Oakley Elizabeth Ashley Charles Barkley
