That MOMA retrospective was just upstairs from the wonderful paintings of the Black Migration by the young Jacob Lawrence (late 1930s), so Yoko's work seemed like kid's stuff by contrast. OTOH I've come to like her Lotus sculpture here at Jackson Park in Chicago.
Welcome to the board, Mr. Litweiler. 👋

Not that anyone should be surprised, but:
The Epoch Times is a far-right international multi-language newspaper and media company affiliated with the Falun Gong new religious movement. The newspaper, based in New York City, is part of the Epoch Media Group.
The Epoch Media Group's news sites and YouTube channels have spread misinformation and conspiracy theories, such as QAnon and anti-vaccine misinformation, and false claims of fraud in the 2020 United States presidential election.

Thanks. I'll check it out.

Speaking of the devil, here is an article from yesterday's local weekly about a turntable repairman.
"What is the record-collecting community like, in your experience?"
"Obsessive. Really nice people that are obsessed."
Sounds like our kind of people. 😙

Do any of the musicians on the board subscribe to a sheet music service? I'm interested in hearing your experience with Nkoda, Virtual Sheet Music, Sheet Music Direct, Musicnotes, 8notes or other similar services. I will always look for caring, sharing people, but sometimes it would be nice to have one place to go for accurate, well-printed and transposable (!!!) titles. Thanks in advance.

I'm assuming that freejazzinstitute.com/.org is a file-sharing site where people upload and download copyrighted published music. As such, it probably was taken down by the authorities. Unfortunately, a Google search of this site now leads right back to this thread. As a result, people searching for this illegal site will find a link to the Organissimo board. I don't believe the people running and monitoring the board want this kind of attention. Personally, I love sharing, but I do it with a little more discretion.

Met him when he was in a film I worked on. Didn't realize how popular he was until after a grueling day members of the crew began thanking me for for privilege of being on a set while he played. (Actually what's in the film was pre-recorded but the group would jam between set-ups. Other musicians were Terry Bozzio-drums, Tony Hymas-keyboards, Jill Avery-bass and the late/great Nicolette Larson-vocals.) .

It is with profound sadness that I share with you BBC's reporting that Jeff Beck has died. Beck was my hero as a young rock-fusion guitarist in the 70s and 80s. BBC

New AI Listens to Toilet Sounds to Detect Diarrhea
just a "taste":
The researchers listened to the samples to establish authenticity.
“We didn't know these people, we didn't know how they recorded, so we had to listen to a good bit,” Gatlin says. “There were definitely lots of fart sounds where we were like, 'That's not a fart, that's someone blowing into their elbow.'”
