george thow was certainly a substantial trumpeter. pete fountain was in the band for a time. it was a few weeks before petey donned the obligatory welk hairpiece. i dont know what welk had against chromedomes, as many times as he played ,'shine on harvest moon.' guitarist lebang was a performer of some note in the jazz field, as i recall.
