He could understand and explain his own thinking processes and offer them as guides to others. I’ve seen him do this for several engineering and management problems. At some deep level, that is what teaching is really all about. Perhaps that helps explain why he was such a beloved teacher.”" the bose products of recent haven't been the greatest, but this remarkable man deserves great praise and honor. their noise cancelling headphones remain an outstanding product. http://inagist.com/all/355896273481637888/

  3. http://jazztimes.com/articles/96482-keith-jarrett-s-dark-night-in-perugia "A note from photographer Tim Dickeson: “The accompanying photo of the Keith Jarrett Trio was taken (without flash) from the top of the hill that overlooks Arena Santa Giuliana, which I would estimate to be one-quarter mile from the stage. The hill was packed with people standing and sitting, watching the show. As it got progressively darker the absurdity of watching virtually nothing but the light from Gary Peacock’s music stand prompted me to take the picture. At this point it was getting difficult to see the people 20 feet in front of me, so I guessed the chances of a performer being disturbed by my one photo was nil. I waited for the applause between numbers and took the picture. The noise from the people around me tripping over each other was far louder than the sound of my camera’s near-silent shutter.” "

  5. Tune in at any given point in a baseball game, and there is a very good chance you are going to see people standing around doing nothing. http://www.newser.com/story/170904/baseball-games-contain-about-18-minutes-of-baseball.html

Earlier today, in response to an inquiry from a media outlet, a summer intern acted outside the scope of his authority when he erroneously confirmed the names of the flight crew on the aircraft. The NTSB does not release or confirm the names of crewmembers or people involved in transportation accidents to the media. We work hard to ensure that only appropriate factual information regarding an investigation is released and deeply regret today's incident. Appropriate actions will be taken to ensure that such a serious error is not repeated."

Youngman – July 2013 Billed as Masters of Mainstream, the concert series that ran at the Old Mill Inn, Home Smith Bar was without question some of the best jazz that took place during this edition of the Toronto Jazz Festival. The Canadian Jazz Quartet or CJQ for short, have been around for awhile (founded in 1987). They play what I would consider the best straight ahead jazz in the style of their namesakes the Modern Jazz Quartet or MJQ. The MJQ was established in 1952 and was made up of John Lewis (piano), Milt Jackson (vibes), Percy Heath (double bass) and Connie Kay (drums). Like the MJQ the CJQ are comprised of the same instruments with the exception of piano, substitute the guitar of Gary Benson, and includes Frank Wright (vibes), Duncan Hopkins (double bass) and Don Vickery (drums). 14. at some point, about 10 years ago, i had my fill of jarrett. he had been one of my top ten artists for decades; i excitedly waited for each new issue, article, or article. i have probably 5 dozen of his recordings. there are hundreds of fine interesting pianists in this world well worth hearing.........i've just had my fill of KJ at this point....... KJ is not god. as for being subjected to a kj live concert; i have no desire to be held hostage by any artist.
  15. http://www.nytimes.com/2013/07/13/arts/music/smalls-and-other-clubs-are-webcasting-concerts.html?_r=1&adxnnl=1&ref=music&adxnnlx=1373676517-oRmQnmwC7ut+HljciLeYEQ& "Smalls, the endearingly casual Greenwich Village jazz club, was packed on Wednesday night for the first set by the Alex Sipiagin Group. Mr. Sipiagin, an exactingly skilled trumpeter, was celebrating the release of “Live at Smalls,” his new post-bop album on the SmallsLIVE label, for an audience occupying the club’s flea-market assortment of benches, chairs and barstools, or standing around the back of the room. Spike Wilner manages the club and has designed its digital strategy. Then there were those who took in the set from a glowing screen, hundreds or even thousands of miles away. Evan Cobb, a 32-year-old saxophonist, was watching a live feed on his computer in a home office in Nashville; Richard Dobbs, 55, a museum-store buyer who moonlights as a saxophonist, was doing much the same in Cambridge, Mass. “It’s one of the better sets I’ve seen,” Mr. Dobbs said the next day, comparing Mr. Sipiagin’s performance to many others he has streamed through the club’s webcast portal, generally at no charge."
  16. http://gusttsilis.com/arthurblythe/ On June the 3rd, 2013, Arthur went into the USC Keck Center to have a large benign tumor removed from his right Kidney. The operation was serious, as Arthur spent one week after the procedure in an induced coma in their ICU unit. His health has been a challenge for him for several years now. The Parkinson's (Arthur has been living with Parkinson's for 8 years) has developed more rapidly and at this time he is in a rehabilitation center in Lancaster, CA. His goal is to be back home (?) within the next 30 days. The recent operation he underwent diminished his ability to walk and swallow foods. He is fighting hard each day to gain his strength back.
