  5. although this article is not specifically about music, it, nevertheless, may apply to several of us. Such patternicities, then, mean that people believe weird things because of our evolved need to believe nonweird things. http://www.sciam.com/article.cfm?id=patter...&print=true

  10. Home Couple has sex in bathroom as crowd cheered them on and their significant others watched Minnesota-Iowa game Football fans found action to cheer in Metrodome loo By John Brewer jbrewer@pioneerpress.com Updated: 11/26/2008 10:35:22 AM CST A couple of University of Iowa fans took a break from Saturday's game at the Metrodome against the University of Minnesota to have some illicit sex in a Dome restroom, police said. The duo — a 38-year-old woman and a 26-year-old man from Carroll and Linden, Iowa, respectively — turned a handicapped toilet stall into their love nest about 8:30 p.m., late in the Hawkeyes' 55-0 trouncing of the Gophers. A crowd of intoxicated fans gathered in the restroom to laugh and cheer the off-the-field action, until an Avalon Security guard tipped off University of Minnesota police to the ruckus. Officers had to interrupt the intimate moment to cite the couple for indecent conduct, a misdemeanor. University of Minnesota Police Chief Greg Hestness said similar citations at the Metrodome or on campus usually involve public urination. He said it was the first time in his six years at the U that his force has interrupted a sex act during a Gophers game. Hestness assumed the woman was embarrassed about being caught: She initially gave a false name to officers and had to be identified by her husband before she was released. The man was attending the game with his girlfriend, according to police. "It's a long ride back to Iowa," Hestness said. John Brewer can be reached at 651-228-2093.
  11. chip davis founded a moderately interesting new age classical-pop-electronic-acoustic music group, mannheim steamroller in the 70's. fresh aire was a tolerable, even pretty recording. he hit on the christmas background gimmick that turned him huge bucks in the early 80's and has milked it to death and then some for decades. if another sincere person tells me how much they love mannheim steamroller christmas music, i will have another drink or two and shout loudly 3 times "BAH, HUMBUG!!"
  12. anthony davis adventures in dreamtime india navigation "This phase peaked with Variations In Dream-time (1982), scored for a sextet of piano, trombone (Lewis), cello (Wadud), clarinet/flute (JD Parran), bass and drums (Aklaff), and containing only two side-long compositions: the 24-minute Variations in Dream-Time and the 22-minute three-movement Enemy of Light. Davis, far from rejecting bebop, cool jazz or even swing music (or, for that matter, African or Indonesian music), was working outside the free-jazz paradigm, determined to restore composition to its dominating role. His non-virtuoso style at the piano was little more than a guide for the development of the composition, a practical expression of an intimidating musical plot. Despite the obvious similarities in intent, there was little in these extended suites that recalled European classical music, other than the occasional romantic melody. It was, indeed, a unique form of art."
