http://www.nytimes.c...y.html?hp&_r=1 all very well, but if your boss gets the idea that something you have done on-line or anywhere else is a liability, or even an indication that you are not a good egg, then you should probably start looking for a new job. your boss owes you nothing and owes everything to his/her boss. you may feel inclined to thumb your nose at this, but just remember how easily any dissatisfaction about you can translate into a dismissal for any reason. human rights are great, but theory and practice are two separate things.

L.A. Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said he asked the team last fall to pick up his contract option for next season, but the team refused. -
the other side of ray lewis http://www.usatoday....r-2000/1566198/ "Lewis never directly linked his two friends to the killings, and they were acquitted. Lewis had testified that Oakley, Sweeting and another man had gone to a sporting goods store the previous day to buy knives. Baker's blood later was found in Lewis' limo. Having fled the crime scene, Lewis told the limo's passengers to "keep their mouths shut." The white suit Lewis was wearing that night — on Super Bowl Sunday — never was found."

Wednesday and Thursday they have pianist Ethan Iverson coming in with a really interesting group - it's a quartet with saxophonists Tim Berne and Sam Newsome. Playing drums is the legendary Andrew Cyrille. This is, as far as I know, the first appearance of Andrew Cyrille at Smalls and we are eagerly looking forward to hearing him. Ethan always presents challenging and off-beat shows and this one should be no different. -

I'm pleased to say that the old ride cymbal that was taken from Smalls Jazz Club a few months ago was returned to us last night by a person who will remain anonymous. Glad to have it back. My sincere thanks to Charles Ruggiero and Pete Van Nostrand who were both kind enough to supply us with replacements. Thanks for looking out, cats! -

http://www.notreble....-prescott-bass/ by phil palombi "Recently, I had an experience that changed the way I think about instruments. Years ago, I used to get nervous sitting in on other people’s gigs for fear of not being able get “my sound” out of their bass. You know what I’m taking about, right? You grab someone else’s bass, play a few notes, then think “uh-oh, this action feels weird and the bass sounds totally different than what I’m used to.” You play a tune or two with the band, and the whole time you’re thinking to yourself “I hope that these people get to hear me onmy bass someday so that they can see that I can really play!”"

as a new widower, i made a similar 1st soul food dinner stop at her home about 22 years ago. the food may have been better and more authentic. sadly, death parted us a few years ago. thanks for rekindling some wonderful memories. pasty blotchy me visits an occasional black church bazaar or sing at least twice each year; i miss the 'real' food. -

The Florence Freedom minor league baseball team announced plans for their May 23 game to give away a Manti Te'o's girlfriend bobblehead - which will be an empty box. -
the interview was a desperate attempt by the oprah to draw attention to her flagging cable channel. it wasn't about armstrong. unfortunately for both, notre dame football intervened.
